  1. On IS a lot of Elyos are not in legions, way more as a percentage than I notice on SL.  I would think that legions drive siege attendance if they want their name on the fort.

At siege times there are a bucket load of people in LFG advertising for instance runs. TL runs seem very popular.

Half the time I wouldn't know a siege was on, it's not like LFG gets spammed on IS. I missed the last one earlier today on IS where Elyos took Krotan, I would have attended but didn't notice ads, and can't remember the times.

I have done this multiple times since the patch and for whatever reason, it is not working for me. I still get spammed with gold seller whispers and in LFG chat. The whispers are the most anger and frustration inducing.  We shouldn't be required to update and do this change file extensions voodoo and back again to try and make things work.

    ...

    It's working fine for me.

All I did was take the  aionfilterline.dat  file which I had working before maintenance, compressed it with zip and renamed it to aionfilterline.pak.

Hey ya'll - I will take a look into this with our Game Team. I do know we recently added a formally supported Chat Filter. Currently, the team member I was working on this with is out on vacation for a week, but my hope is that when he returns we can share more information on how to utilize it.

It sounds like Cerae and others are figuring out how to leverage the tool, but we'll def share more details soon on it. Sorry to hear that it might have interrupted your existing filter tools :(

The existing filter was from your NCsoft team.

It was a plain text file called aionfilterline.dat  which you could edit with Notepad on your PC,  all it contained was a bunch of words, one per line, or any other characters you wanted to filter out eg. VVVVVV or .C0M etc. that the kinah spammers like to use.

What changed last maintenance, is the file aionfilterline.dat is no longer recognized by Aion, it now has to be a zip file renamed to aionfilterline.pak which is nowhere as convenient to work with as the previous aionfilterline.dat plain text file.  This small change puts editing the filter in the too hard basket for a lot of players, and it would be nice if it could be put back to the way it was.

It seems they didn't disable it, they just changed the format of the file it wanted. If you have the filter github bookmarked, it's been updated with the new file format (which is still, at its heart, the same text file, just packaged a little differently. I updated to it about 10 minutes ago, and haven't gotten any of the spam I've been seeing all afternoon (so far, anyways!)

I tried that  .pak file from github, it doesn't block the WTS and WTB spam in LFG.

  5. Something is broken after the maintenance update.

I knew it was too good to be true, a chat filter that actually worked for a week has been disabled by the NCsoft West.

Oh well, I guess it's time to disable channel 3/LFG chat again....sigh...

After I found the file and added it, it is a lot better. Also is good to know about going to Charater screen to reload the file, so thanks all for the info. Since I am 69 years old I am a little slow with computer stuff lol. I played this game when it first came out I still have a couple of characters with the "Settler of Aion" Title  in Th Regular game.

Once you get the hang of editing the file, all that remains is working out what  text to block. There are no hard and fast rules, you basically block the things which annoy you most.

A couple of tips, keep a backup of the filter file just in case NCsoft push out an update which overwrites your current version,  and you loose the changes you made. Secondly keep your own additions up near the top of the file so they are easy to cut and paste as a chunk into whatever new file NCsoft issue in the future.

Yes, that's really a blessing. I just wonder how many people even know about the file though. I knew I was looking for the filter in world and asking my guildies about it after the maint.

I don't think many do because people are complaining about kinah sellers in LFG all the time. I can't see them because I edited the file as soon as they popped up after maintenance. The best additions to the chat filter I have made so far was adding "WTB" and "WTS" it make LFG finally useful again.

Well everyone can easily to save Aion by quitting official o_o

I don't believed there will be anyone truly love post classic aion nobody declared their loves for new aion.
Not only we need to quit Aion but BnS players need to quit as well ,sure leaving the game that you loved is painful but it's much worse to keep it alive mutanted into something we no longer in love with.

They might not revive classic and let it die but one thing for sure. Death of BnS and Aion will halt p2w madness at least in PC games. Future games will base on classic MMO fundamental before p2w hits.

You know money can't buy everything in the world. Some people might say money giving them happiness but do they or just a way escape their reality ? You can use money to buy people to do certain things but they will never truly loyal to you not even your own child.

Anyway yep die another day (by asmos lol xD)

The pay to win gear inequality is an issue, but I think the real problem is the developers are obsessed with gambling, almost everything has to be a game of chance with a high percentage of failures. That's creates a negative vibe, doesn't matter if it's saving enchant stones up for months only to have them fail and you go backwards in enchant level, or the inability to do camps because there is always an opponent with +15 gear waiting to gank you, usually a sin in coward mode. Those failures also make a negative mood.

It's happy moods that make people come back for more, not negative moods.

Perhaps the devs, and marketing people, need to read up on the differences between cortisol, and dopamine?
