  1. Thinking on coming back need opinions

No it wasn't directed at you, and no it's not an insult. It's an old saying...oh wait...It's 2019, guess it's not PC enuff huh? Feel free to be insulted all you like however, as I really couldn't care less about your sensitive little feelings. #notsorry #notwoke

"Not yet" being the operative term when it comes to loot boxes. As for the drugs topic, been to Colorado lately? Funny thing about the ambiguity of what's legal and what isnt today...that can change at the drop of a hat. That's "progression" for ya I guess huh? As for the entitled, overly sensitive, pussified, safe space having, soy boy infused majority of this millenial generation...that wasn't the focus of my post however...yeah...not really a fan.

By your logic, drug dealers are entitled to their profits as well. Free market is it not? Who cares about the greater societal ramifications right? (And before you get your panties in a bunch about that analogy I suggest you give it some actual thought.) You don't think gaming is an addiction? That it can lead otherwise sane people to do insane things just for that momentary shot of endorphines? And that companies like EA and NCSoft don't know that there's a profit to be made by selling right into these people's weaknesses? Preying on these poor fools knowing full well that they've built a "dependance" that these consumers can't ignore. And no matter how badly they're worked over and scammed, they'll keep coming back for more. For that next fix. You think these companies are innocent free market enterprises to somehow be praised? You think selling scam boxes (loot boxes) isn't harming anyone? (A few world governments would have a word with you about that.) See, the ends doesn't always justify the means. If you run a shitty business, your shitty business isnt entitled to anything but a shitty end. That's how true capitalism is supposed to work. It's designed to weed out the weak. Well, that's how it's supposed to work... Unfortunately we live in a millennial world now, where a complete lack of self integrity leads individuals to selling their souls, (along with their pride), just for a small moment of instant gratification. Standing loyally behind companies like EA just for the meager scraps they recieve. But alas I digress. We're getting way off point here...so allow me to step off dat soap box... To put it more succinctly, companies like these make money because stupid people willingly throw their cash at them for substandard products. (Well, those that lack any understanding of the true value of money that is. Spending other people's money is always easy and worry free amirite?) Then the same stupid go around justifying their stupid decisions by throwing empty platitudes like, "Well, they're a company, they're entitled to making profits." As if that somehow condones their shifty, unscrupulous behaviour. Thats it. That's the whole point I was trying to make. We're done here. No point endlessly circling around this topic with a well publicised shill. Enjoy your cruise on the S.S. Titanic. Be sure to leave your wallet on the way out. (Cause...you know...NCsoft is entitled to their profits.)

By any means necessary huh? Even if it means ripping customers off in the process? How schilltastically magnanimous of you. Yeah this is why the Activisions, EA's and NCSofts of the world get away with what they do. After all..."Why apologize when we can simply double down on our shady practices. When the shit hits the fan, we'll always have our shills and white knight there to defend us, and best of all, they'll do it for free! " "There's a sucker born every minute" - PT Barnum.

You know how you turn a profit? 1) A regular steady stream of worthwhile costumes on shop. 2) A regular and varied stream of attractive (PERMANENT) mounts on shop. 3) Cosmetic services broadened to include various hairstyles and other aesthetically pleasing options. (So long as we can actually see said options upon application, without the need to pay you extra for the "viewing privelege".) 4) A "premium" service that's actually worth the price of admission. 5) A support/dev staff on hand that is committed to providing a fair platform for its gamers. One that enforces it's in game rules, not one that blindly turns it's cheek to gamers that violate said rules so long as they retain their "whale" status. You know how you DON'T go about successfully turning a profit? Do the exact opposite of those things listed above, AND... Selling half baked "tickets" designed to provide access through pay to something said user/customer already had access to for free. Aka: his/her characters created/default appearance. No, that's how you lose customers, not gain them. Something Aion 2019 knows all too well.
  6. Thinking on coming back need opinions

It amazes me sometimes how gullible today's gamers are. YEAH, that's how it always starts, "Oh, but it hardly costs anything...!" Nevermind the fact that companies like NCSoft are essentially forcing you to pay to see the character you may have spent an hour creating, (or to see that costume you just played $30 for.) A nickel here, a dime there. Hardly anything, right? It's the principle of the thing. That's called a slippery slope, and companies like NCSoft, EA, etc thrive on the willingness of suckers...err...enablers of such underhanded practices to part with their cash. They always start small to test the reactions. Today it's nickles, tomorrow it's dollars...next thing you know...you're paying $$ for hotbars and other (used to be) standard of living options. (Oh wait...that's already happening.) Can't wait for the "change your UI settings ticket" so I can edit my ui at will. Don't worry, I'm sure it'll cost next to nothing too. But yeah, sure...It's only a $1 per 5-10 minutes to spare yourself the indignity of playing a furry. Whatever makes you happy I guess. Happy your friends like it, though one look at how barren this game has gotten since 6.0 tells me more than a few dont. Anyways, enable away!

I know right!?! Isn't it awesome how NCGreed managed to figure out a way to monetize the ability to see you character's default appearance? So super awesome! Like for sure!
  8. recommendations for new game to play ?

    Looks DoA to me.
  9. Can't wait for all the calls for a new server for 7.0 cause, "Taiwan did it!" Followed by NCWest indeed opening a new server after initially saying they weren't going to. Followed by said new server dying in 2 weeks. Followed by frantic calls for a merge. Followed by a merge. That's what I'm looking forward to.
  10. aion is dying

It's not just Aion. All MMORPG's are at the twilight. When even the mighty WoW is losing money, that's when you know the ship's taking on water and sinking fast. Unless something truly innovative comes along, I feel like what we've been seeing for the past couple of years, (the slow death of MMORPG's), will finally come to pass. Maybe VRMMORPG's could be the new hot thing. Just hope they come with safe logging off options standard.
  11. I was there, during the golden age of Aion.

The beginning was oh so bitter sweet. So many great battles and at the same time oh so many frustrating failed attempts at leveling due to level 40 +10 abyss gear laden uber elmo sins and the like. Still my favorite personal aion moment had nothing to do with conflict at all, and yet, it turned into my most lasting memory of this game. I recall being on my Templar "patrolling" Morheims Patamor Ridge Path road leading down through Kellans Cabin and the spring habitat into the desert, (on one of my usual looking for random Elmo runs), when I spotted two of them out in the distance. I immediately prepped for battle and charged straight towards them. Much to my amazement, despite obviously spotting my lumbering mass of a templar, (maxed size at all) they didn't move, didn't even flinch. I caught up to them, stopped about 10m in front of them and \waved, they waved back. I immediately sheathed my sword and got in closer, still wary of them. Through "shop stand talk" one of them asked me for directions to a certain location, apparently they were looking for Deltras Execution Grounds in order to complete a quest. I told them sure I knew and to follow and so they did. To me this was amazing. Here we were, an asmo templar escorting two elyos, (I forget what classes they were), down the sprigg path, through the desert, an up to the deltas grounds. Along the way, we ran into an asmo sin whom wasted no time in attacking the female pigeon. I immediately yelled for him to stop, claiming they were personal friends and that I was helping them complete a quest, (lying of course.) To my amazement he bought it, broke engagement, backed up and proceeded to walk away. So we finally reached our destination, I stood watch as they both completed their quests. Once they did they returned over to me, and expressed their thanks for my help and proceeded to bow, I in turn replied that it was no problem and bowed in turn. They then activated their call home spells and wisked away into the aether. I remember feeling so satisfied about that event, (and just a slight bit like a traitor.) It was, almost moving. Make no mistake, the road to leveling my Templar through 1.5 - 2.0 was taxing, arduous and tedious. I had no love for elmo and actively sought out their "blood". But for that one moment, I felt compelled to act not with violence, but kindness. And you know what, I'm glad I did. (Sorry for the short story lol. Still vividly recall that event to this day.)
  12. EK Server Situation

All of this could've been avoided. Regardless, the only way I can see NCWest saving EK hence avoiding yet another troublesome merge is by differentiating it from the other two. Justify its existence. Turn it into some sort of special rules server, or perhaps a "Legacy" server. Otherwise it's doomed and we all know what the inevitable outcome will be.
  13. Siege EK Lakrum

Shame no one saw this coming. If only we could have predicted the great folly that would be, opening a new server barely a year after merging the last new server mistake. To bad there was no prior history of this we couldve pointed to as a means of helping NCSoft avoid repeating this seemingly perpetual mistake... Again... Again. Oh well. Smh.
  14. Incoming layoffs for NCwest and hopfully Gideon....

Or, here's a thought, how about $0 for allowing us to see our own f$&king characters as we originally created them? Who in their right mind is going to pay $10+ on a single one time use costume when their toons will be hidden behind some God awful furry costume illusion which can't be hidden UNLESS they purchase a special scroll that hides it for them for more cash? Wanna know why your business model is failing here in the west NCSoft, (besides making monumentally stupid decisions like this furry costume scroll disaster among others)? It's simple, western gaming tastes are different than eastern gaming tastes. Had you actually invested time and money into figuring that out, (which I thought was the whole point of NCWest), perhaps your aging games wouldn't be so close to collapse. So much for "listening to your western players and catering to their specific needs" . You ignore us...we ignore you. Taking things out on your underlings who's only crime was following your asinine orders to the T will solve nothing. You'll continue to copy paste Korean patches over to the West and hope we simply adapt, but we won't. Western players will continue to reject your ideas, and continue to leave in droves and not until the end will you finally see the error of your ways. Oh well, live and learn. Though in your case, I won't be holding my breath waiting for that to happen.
  15. Transparent Scrolls (yet again)

When we've reached the point, (as MMO gamers), wherein we're forced to beg developers to allow us to give them our RL cash in order to be able to *temporarily* see the characters we create, (as we created them), that's when you know, MMORPG's are truly dead.
  16. haha hey boiz

I hereby name this thread, "A Descent into Madness: One player's struggle with multiple personality disorder."
  17. 'Member when...

This happened: And this: I sure do. "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." - George Santayana
  18. KR - Popular games. - Aion @15th (Jan 23-29 2019)

Since when is ranking 15th at anything a sign of "doing well"? Anyways, looking at that list forces me to call into question native Korean gamer tastes. I mean...Maplestory 4th? Really?!? Suddenly the carefully catered changes to Aion, (like forced furry transformations), start to make sense somehow.
  19. Can't make a poll... Idk why

If only we could have forseen EK's eventual demise. If only we could have, somehow, attempted to warn against an obviously foolish decision to open YET ANOTHER server less than a year after Aion's last server merge. (Or opening a new server at all considering how many merges came before that.) Oh well, ce la vie. "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."
  20. AION players. I think it's all or nothing.

Pretty much what I did. Been at this too long to waste precious emotions over what cannot be controlled. In a way I'm grateful Aions become what it has. Its forced me to broaden my horizons. Had never played FF14 for example. Installed, tried it...immediately uninstalled Aion. Oh what I have missed... So thanks NCsoft, from the bottom of my wallet...er...I mean heart.
  21. The game used to be sub based remember? You needed to purchase the game AND sub to be able to play. The game still failed. HENCE the move to F2P. What makes you think NCSoft would get it right this time? More likely the KSoft overlords would pocket the money and/or use the wests funds to further advance the eastern game/base. (The only one they truly care about.) Or use it to fund whatever mobile style cash grab or battle royale game they most certainly have in the works. You guys should know how NCSoft rolls by now.
  22. Excessive loading time fix?

So havent logged in for a while and decided to check on something today. Log in as usual, await the splash screen, disappears after 30 secs or so then...loading bar. So I say to myself, "okay, maybe its just updating something, one time thing...right?" So I do what I set out to do and close the game. I then realize I forgot to check something else on the same account...so I log back in, splash screen goes poof nearly instantly then...long blue loading bar...again. So at this point I'm like WUT DAFUQ?!? Decide to test it once more. Close client, restart game and...LONG 4 MINUTE F'N loading bar! (Tried it 6 more times, using several accounts just to confirm, same deal everytime.) So a game that used to take me no more than 30 seconds to go from splash screen to character select screen now greets me with a long arse 3-4 minute loading per attempt? Why?!? Whats changed?! (Nothing on my system has changed thats for sure, and every other large game like WoW, Tera, SWTOR, Everquest 2, Neverwinter and Blade and Soul run and load just fine as per usual. So its safe to say its something added recently.) Welp, whatever fleeting desire I may have had to play again has now been completely sapped away. GG. R.I.P.
  23. Excessive loading time fix?

Yeah my bad, I was just frustrated and my vocabulary skills left me lol. I'd edit it myself but I no longer have the option. If you could, is it possible that you could change the title to "Excessive loading time fix?" please?
  24. Excessive loading time fix?

Okay so turns out "ValidTableDump" was set to "0". Dunno how or why but whatever. Unchecked "read only" edited the value to "1", checked "read only" again and after an initial load up I closed, tried again, and it seems to be back to normal now. Thank you Liiny and Rakesh for pointing me in the right direction! Cause I was starting to get salty perpetually staring at that loading bar lol.
  25. Excessive loading time fix?

Thank you! Yeah I've never encountered this before and I've been playing this game since 1.5. Only thing that comes close is the aformentioned, (by you), send log loading bars that I get after logging back in after certain crashes. But even that was usually a one time thing. Then every proceeding log in attempt went by smoothly and quickly. Gonna give it a try. Yeah my first inclination was to blame some sort of file change, but I dont recall any updates between the last time I played and today. Well whatever the case I'll check these files and see if I can correct this annoying issue. Thanks as well!
