Group loot does not work

Well, it was the intended mechanic of this event. And all the original prices were set in accordance with that mechanic. And you're right to an extent. If the fatties were the only way of obtaining coins, and they were set to group loot, this event would turn very toxic very quickly. But you can also farm coins from normal mobs on your own. That means the rewards are accessible to all. Maybe not equally accessible, but aion has always rewarded the elites more than the casuals. Of course that's impossible now and your choices are reduced to zombie farming or gtfo. In essence league loot is what ruined this event entirely, so it is definitely not the lesser of the two evils

If you take it a step further, imagine had this event been released properly with group loot and low prices.

So you have a handful of max geared groups running around KSing one another for fatties on the inner rings. There would be PvP around those fatties when enemy max geared groups clashed over them. Doesn't matter if they lose a fattie here or there because the coin reward prices are so low and those groups are still going to make bank.

What about the more casual players? They would be spread around the outer ring farming normal mobs for coins. Mostly solo, but probably some small groups for protection, too. Ofc they wouldn't be making coins faster than the elite players, but as @Deidara-DN said, Aion usually rewards them more. So that's not odd. These players are going to be getting a handful of coins each hour they put in, but look at those prices! They are so freaking low the casual player putting in the time and taking the risk would absolutely be making enough for nice things. There would be PvP on that outer ring, too, but the players would be spaced side by side and could band together to kill any enemy that comes into their territory.

With players spread pretty much evenly over the Eye, there would be tons of PvP.. and not just by the geared. Something we didn't see because there were only a few brave souls killing mobs and then huge knots of 200. Not that we didn't find ways to PvP, but it could have been a lot nicer. Also, several times I watched an enemy run right through a league and not get touched because everyone was just too busy trying to make it to the next fattie before it spawned. Was crazy!

People are upset about the prices and I get that. But I think the decision that destroyed this event was the decision to leave it at league loot. League loot brought out those that wanted big rewards with little to no effort. Just league up, follow and loot. The huge numbers doing this was the reason that the prices were jacked up. These prices married the activity to how many rewards would have been available had the event been launched properly with group loot.

The ultimate problem here is that we were given an event that made us feel like omegas and temperings and level 80 gear was going to rain down from the sky on our following & looting bodies. Nothing short of that was going to make people happy.

@Lingerie-DN's idea is a really good one.
