Magic Resist for a Magic Class?

You'd be better off making an entirely different set. Defensive sets require you to go all in, otherwise you won't have enough of the stat to be effective. You cannot do it without sacrificing MB, but you're not supposed to stay in a defensive set for the entire duration of your fight either. Switch to survive a burst rotation, then go back to your offensive set when you're in the clear. Supplement your MR by getting accessories, food, etc.

Should I use Arena or Prime for it?

look at OP's original question. They wanted to keep all of their burst while  (presumably)  maximizing their resistance. I'll go out on a limb and say that they wanted to have their cake and eat it too.

Do you really think that they know which set to use?

Just wait until 6.0.....
