Muting my characters battle grunts.

Hey all,

I have a female ranger and she constantly grunts after every skill I use. I want to mute her but I'm not sure how. I tried under sound options and nothing works except turning down the Combat SFX, however that mutes my skills too. Is there a way to make this go away? Thanks in advance!

I don't think there's a way to do it by adjusting audio settings, but if it bothers you that much, get a plastic surgery ticket and change your voice to "Basic."

Seductive, Tough, and Youth all grunt, with Youth being the worst offender (banshee wailing). Basic makes noises from time to time, but it's not nearly as irritating as the others.

Try this:

Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\NCSOFT\Aion\L10N\enu\sounds

Delete the "voice" folder.

That will set character voices to the default Korean one, which are waaaaaay better.

You have to redelete it every patch, but the Korean voices are so awesome it's worth the hassle.

Install KR voices.

I legit cannot play with default english ones. They're so terrible that... IDK why anyone thought it's a good idea to replace the original well sounding, and actually fitting voices with this screaming nyerkery. Once I forgot to replace them  and I couldn't even stand playing  5 mins with it.

Anyway, to replace the battle grunts I usually do this: place "voice" folder from Sounds to the same directory in L10N/enu. Sadly you have to do it every client update - but it's fast, takes like 30 secs of a hassle.

But lately I've been playing with full KR voices (everything including NPCs) which are also waaay better. Simply place it in L10N/enu directory.

But I like Shugos saying nyerk nyerk! (Do they say nyerk nyerk in Korean too? Because it's something like "yaru" in Japanese.)

They do iirc? Haha. It's always kyarun, nyerk, nyan nyan, something between those three.

...I usually play with all sounds muted, but if I ever had to endure Korean voices I would burn the hard disc that Aion is installed on and throw it away.

I can't stand the asian languages at all, maybe because I grew to loath them while in university because of all my friends were watching anime without an English dub.

I'm pretty sure it was something like "yaru" they kept repeating. It could be their version of akakakak, I dunno. It's been a while since I used JP voice pack.

Well you play the game that was created in Korea by koreans. Why hate the languages even... This is a bit extra and I'd say disrespectful. Considering that every asian language sounds different.

And  xiilieaxz-DN wasn't talking about the all voices being replaced, only the battle grunts. Regardless, I'd say that the quality of original korean voicing team and NA/EU voice localization is incomparable, the first one has way better quality, voice acting and variety - doesn't have to do anything with languages at this point.

Well there are a few languages that I can't stand in my ears, like Russian or German, just they are harsh, on the other hand find Chinese kinda soft while Korean, Japanese etc sound pretty difficult for me to hear for a long time.

I am from Greece, I am sure there will be plenty of people that wouldn't be able to stand my language, nothing to be afraid to say.

The fact it is made by Koreans doesn't mean we should like the language as well. I have never been able to enjoy an anime (I am not a fan btw) in the original Japanese language, they all sound like trying too hard to sound tough when their male voices are higher pitched than the scruffy American dub.

This is why we get a translated version in many things, so we get familiar voices and a language.
