Crafting post-patch questions

The past week I've been working on my crafting on a few characters but I got to thinking about some things tonight.

  1. With materials changing with the patch, should I just try power leveling crafting now or wait until the patch?
  2. Is crafted gear viable post-patch?
  3. Are work orders still available post-patch?
  4. Are any recipes going away with the patch?

Thanks for any tips!

All old crafts will be removed and we will have only Aetherforging.

1. If you’re leveling construction for example, do it now.

2. Gear remains regardless of what it is.

3. No work orders, because old crafts are being removed.

4. Yes, all of them go poof.

So ALL characters can make ANYTHING because there will only be aetherforging?  Does that mean that you can't even get professions until you're 65+ when aetherforging is available to be learned?  I'm totally lost on what is going on with crafting.

Aetherforging will be available from lvl 76+ but you keep your proficiency. All the designs and mats are revamped in it, but that’s the only craft remaining in the next patch.

My point is, because thing like construction is being removed and if you want some fancy furniture, your best bet is to do it now. Maybe in the future we will get an NPC with those things in there, but only @Cyan can tell us.

A different kind of question, but do you know if it's better to level Aetherforging now or wait till 6.2.? I heard it becomes easier to level, but some people have been saying that it's gonna be expensive due to the lack of materials

Depends. Leveling it is indeed easier, but people complained about being stuck on levels 80 or so. If you have a chance to level it now, I recommend doing so. I'm not sure how NA will handle the upcoming bot issue, but people are being scammed all around on EU trying to transfer the items between alts, because the bots (now called broker bots).

I'd say do it now.

Yes after the patch it's in fact easier, but you probably won't be able to do it as you will lack kinah/mats.

With the crafting event up now, you need just 2x 500% crafting scroll and I'd say ~750m kinah to get it (I MAY BE TOTALLY WRONG WITH THE KINAH)

Just prepare all the mats and with the 2 scrolls you should be fine to get there. If you're a member of Aion Katalam on FB, smbdy there shared craft calculator what mats you need to get to 300, should be helpful.

So that means there is no crafted armor or weapons prior to 75 & there's no food or potions prior to the high level ones you can make currently with aetherforging?

Food and pots can be bought from the new kinah/gold bar shop on the go or from NPCs. Quests give you gear until level 80 and with Aetherforging you can start crafting stuff.
