Zombiex-DN
currently the kinah of the players only decreases we do not have sources to be able to farm kinah,I am afraid that in a month there will be nothing of kinah, we need new ways of farming kinah and I do not think that you put kinah in the shop, maybe increase the amount of kinah in sales
Ressentiment-DN
that's their goal, reduce inflation. I believe they will give more sources of kinah when most of it dries up and the economy stabilizes. they're smart dw
Kailor-DN
Simple, hoard it now, don't expand storage, don't buy anything, farm the rubbish drops, and get a few shards in the process and, do not use Kinah unless you must. When they think we're all broke, you'll still have your 4-5 billion and can then afford to turn that into even more and, get the stuff you need and want. Ride it out, like a crashing stock market, don't sell, just ride it out and be conservative - wait for it to get better.

This was NCSoft East's grand solution to countering bots and and kinah sellers. In their effort to fight that they destroyed the market for legitimate players. If the Korean version of the game is any indication don't expect too much improvement.
Aly-DN
@Jagblade-DN I believe it's an attempt at both. I think the devs reorganized kinah and added gold infots in order to lower the hyper-inflation. The inability to trade kinah is in place more towards reducing the bots and kinah sellers, though it also might help to stabilize the economy. Pikachu-KT
What NC is doing right now is the opposite of inflation, it's deflation. Here are some of the theories rooted in basic economics that it appears they are doing. As the kinah supply goes down, the buying power of kinah goes up, as kinah will have increased value relative to other goods and services (basic supply and demand concepts), for instance housing, enchantment stones, crafting materials. It will cost players less kinah to buy more items if this goes on - which can be seen as a positive thing for new/returning players who might only be able to farm as a consistent source of income. The thing with deflation is that, there is always a downward pressure for price on the market, as less and less people are willing to spend their kinah on goods and services if it simply means the prices of the goods and services they buy will be cheaper later on. This results in more goods and services staying unsold on the market, which results in further price drops, until such time as NC decides to tweak some things. Too much deflation is bad as it directly tanks an economy, but at the same time hyper inflation is also bad, as new and returning players will never be able to afford anything. The main reason why some items are staying consistent in price, is that they have rather inelastic demand, either from a result of lack of supply, or demand. Normally NC controls supply > which affects demand, but currently by putting the limitations on kinah aquisition and exchange of kinah, they are controlling demand. From my current assessment of the market, which is always volatile at the start of a new patch/changes to the game, the only safe bet (until such time as NC releases an event to prove me wrong), is that Legendary PVP enchantment stones are the only asset that has a bullish trend, as supply is somewhat limited, and demand will not be affected by the decrease in kinah supply. Demand will stay constant if not increase as individuals burn through existing stockpiles and needs to look to the broker to enchant their gear. One thing I can see with the broker fees being what it is, is it directly combats individuals who either kinah sell using the broker, or who are broker warriors (like me), as it cuts into their profits. To summarize what I am getting at is that NC is deflating the economy to allow new and returning players to have something to come back to (exchanged gear gap omitted from this of course). I would expect in the next 1-2 months, they will be releasing events where participation will result in an influx of kinah to balance out the current ins and outs of kinah supply. (Or they might just reduce broker fees, who knows). Clarification: NC also controls demand by having stats or gear enhancements or rare cosmetics tied into certain cash shop items, among other things. However, they create an artificial scarcity by controlling supply (similar to Canada's supply side economy on eggs and dairy products, which keeps our prices for milk & eggs higher). Kailor-DN
I approve except we need to be able to transfer kinah between our alts. What does it matter which character on the account has the kinah? It's the same kinah, not like we have more because whatever toon we are playing that day has all of it for the account. We still have xxxx kinah on our account, no matter which character has it. One character can't buy a high priced item for another, we can't trade skins or equipment, so what does it matter which one has the kinah except that then, the one that needs it to fly or teleport for a quest will have it and, we can stop deleting stuck alts. A fair point but I believe it's not worth it here in the west personally. Unilaterally altering the value of everyone's money, removing or in this case exchanging a large amount of it, and then heavily regulating the way it can change hands is never going to go over well with anyone. It would be like taking a business man's million dollars that he worked to earn himself and converting half of it into food stamps that have only one use and cannot be given to anyone else, even friends and family. While the economy was crazy inflated before, at the very least there were plenty of ways to make the money needed to do anything in it. That's currently not the case and I don't think it's going to change. I really hope it does as things aren't sustainable this way, but I doubt it. Aly-DN
I agree, @Jagblade-DN. Not sure anything they put in is going to actually stabilize the economy. I am heartened that they tried! It's better than just letting things spiral even further out of control. It's harder on the new, poor players than it is on the older ones. And that's the worst part because we would all like to see those people stay.
Jagblade-DN
Definitely. At the very least though when I want to cheer myself up at the state of this economy, I just think the following, because the market could be so much worse: Thank God this isn't Tera. GibbsFreeEnergy
Yeah, it is pretty annoying with the kinah situation now. I only had 50m when the patch went through. Best you can do now is farm aetherforging mats open world and sell them on the broker. You can get up to 100m kinah per hour just doing that. The bots have returned in full force with their 300 hour grind worth of guide stones.

However, they create an artificial scarcity by controlling supply (similar to Canada's supply side economy on eggs and dairy products, which keeps our prices for milk & eggs higher). If kinah is same for everyone be it, but there are some fixed NPC prices that do not go well with that, for example transformation scroll ingame costs 9,9m kinah. How do you even make 9,9 million at the moment? My money only keeps going downwards and I had 10 billion after the reset. I understand deflation is a needed thing for new players to have a reason to play, but even they will be super short on everything. They are actually turning Aion into Lineage II where getting money was impossible unless you played a dwarf crafter/spoiler and had them botting 24/7 or something, or you bought money from money sellers. They removed gathering/aethertapping, they made morphing useless, you cannot be self sufficient with your personal efforts and whatever you have to do, you have to spend kinah on NPCs or broker. If anything, the new players will find it impossible to even teleport and will think a second time before using transformations at all. Removing the ability to make kinah, and controlling the whole market from the single potions or scroll all the way up to the best items needed sounds like a brutal communist/socialist plan and real world taught us it never works. It is like you cannot farm your own scrolls/potions etc so you cannot be self sufficient, the government holds you hostage to buy their things only and they also do not give you a way to make money in order to buy those things, effectively driving you slowly towards an economic collapse and immigration (in real life is immigration, ingame it is quitting the game or going to play another game). For now we, the old players, are the people left with an abundance of money from the previous economic flourishing times (5.8) and we still keep the market going with our own pace until we file bankruptcy as well. ~~~ In short: they will make kinah buying from kinah sellers more relevant than ever, nobody cares about the price or the broker fee, if someone can supply you with kinah directly you will either buy it or quit it (like Venezuelans buy US dollars in the black market hoping to save their current bolivars before it loses its price even more). Not being able to trade items and/or money is like an embargo, it only make the weak -> weaker and the wealthy -> wealthier They haven't done aything to battle kinah selling, they are simply making it more relevant than ever, because now you cannot make kinah at all so buying it looks like lalaland

Kailor-DN
Nope, can still buy kinah, according to the sites that sell it if you google Aion Kinah - only now it's apparently via the broker so, you have to be able to afford to list an item for 1 billion or whatever - the rich get richer, the poor get poorer, that's all that's accomplishing. We can't farm Kinah effectively anymore. 40 levels to earn 2 mil is not effective kinah farming. More like need 40 mil per 2 levels with the cost of teleports, flights, fast travel, warehouse and inventory expansion, high broker fees, very few brokerable items, having to but transparent transformation scrolls, a mount being a MUST now, instead of an option, etc...
