I never said I was lucky! I have often thought my main account was unlucky. I didn't get an ancient on my main account until the pumpkin event, but on an alt account on the first day of 6.2 I bought one transform from the Gold Sands and got an ancient.

It's just RNG. It isn't something you are or aren't doing.

I opened 30 odd free transforms on this account, all whites. Tried combining. More whites.

Didn't get my first green transform until this last week, and it's an acc/crit(?) one.

Contract drops were super rare for me (RIP anyone who ran with me).

Meanwhile, my other account got multiple ancients from a 100 bundle + CoE. #JustRNGThings

I stopped purchasing contracts. 200 and I ended up with two or three ancients, which I thought was great in terms of spending. I didn't get Fennec which was sort of a bummer and got stuck with Krall... fine enough for now.

The rate does seem to be very low. Almost seems like the best bet would be to drop $100101010110101010101 dollars and combine ancients.

It's all rng. Last month I bought 300 contracts and got 3 legendaries from combining 2 ancients each time. Meanwhile, my friend bought like 500+ and ended up with 1 (he tried combining 2 ancients each time and failed, in the end combining 4 is what worked for him).

The rates for the best contracts apparently is really low. I guess the only way to get something really got nowadays is to pay a lot (or to have the best luck in the world). I was lucky and had some ancient contracts from normal ones and 2 from the first event.

Yet I do not understand why some people is paying now. How you can trust in NCsoft after all the things we saw. Are you really using money to "gamble" in a game where you do not have support, the owner does not provide  the rates (so you can know your chances) and in a place where a lot of times our paid things were modified, deleted, outdated or made free for all few weeks after your payment?

Yup a lot of people likes to Gamble, not for nothing United States is the country with highest amount of Casinos

and they pay 1st coz they can lol  2nd to have an advantage over the rest. ( and i'm fine with that someone has to pay the bills! thx guys >_< )

And that thing you said about paid things getting outdated in just ''few weeks''  its exaggerating. Big cashers that gambled on the first Executioner Caeus Surpirise, got an advantage worth of like 9 months over the rest in the 5.8 gearing process and 6.2 exchange gears,  even now that weapon still gives an advantage, because the item skill it provides  ''Wrath of Executioner''  is better than WoW or SoD  lmao.

The same happens to the contracts. Players that have now a Kaisinel tranformation will have 1 year of advantage over the 90% of the server, i'm pretty sure 7.0 will get here and i still not going to have a Kaisinel form lol.

I've learned to look at Aion in the long-term. Generally speaking, almost everything people dump loads of money into becomes obsolete; their dollars spent become obsolete, and then they are further enticed to spend more after the fact. It's a slippery slope to stay ahead and the only benefit is wondering if you're actually a good player or if your $ put you ahead of people in line. These items may not be obsolete in terms of quality, but the money spent and time cut becomes obsolete as other players eventually catch up, rendering your position equal to them in the end.... it's literally a waste in most circumstances and only proves you're either impatient or bad with cash. Or well off. It's not my intention to condemn people for how they spend; it's their life and I am guilty of it in the past as well.

I've spent money on Aion. Too much over the years, and it's dwindled down to $0 spent now, and I am still able to make my weekly progress. My offensive gear is all +15 and ready to go. My defensive gear is +10 - 14, I'd say 13 on average. Less concerning for me atm (Glad).

I know events have been lame, but it doesn't mean stupidly good prizes aren't on the horizon, or more adjustments/patches. We have seen this in precedence, in some circumstances. I would rather hold on to my dollar, make progress on the important pieces and watch what happens after that.

Same goes for contracts. Get something decent enough and then stop spending. Buying into legendaries now will only be wasting money for immediate gratification. Instead, wait. Build as you go.

At the end of the day you and the guy who spent $2000 this year may not be very far apart... especially if they still suck, under all that gear.

.. you have one full set at Ultimate +15 and are working on a second set that is Ultimate +10-14 and you spent -no- real money? Finding that pretty hard to believe.

Anyway.. gambling in games is a huge business and most games employ the tactic. Not all, ofc. I prefer to be able to spend money and get what I pay for. See the skin. Pay for the skin. Get the skin. I avoid spending money on the things like The Wheel and other such events. But those events always make money! I don't think the game has gotten any more gamble-ish and RNG-y. It's been like this for years and years.

I should have clarified, def not Ult lol. I know the process slows down drastically after that, but even on the purple pieces I do have they haven't been as difficult, just wasn't the immediate priority. The rates are actually much better, to the point where collecting stones on the first night and hoarding what I don't need for future upgrades has been significantly.. simple, thus far. Perhaps there is a level of ignorance in the difficulty of using stones at end game but... I feel at that point I will have less trouble, as long as I am consistent for a couple days a week, for a few hours on those days, it will not be as difficult.

I have no intention of dropping any money, nor do I believe I will need to based on my own work ethic, and care.

I agree, regarding your example on skins. I~~~~'d consider that but... depends on the price. Also.. skins right now.. Well, I do have a fluffy set of fox tails for when  I'm running errands in town.

ADD: Again, I do understand the asinine difficulty at end game. I'm looking long-term, because I understand that's how it's meant to be.

I know!

lot of people likes Casinos. I do not like the gambling thing... but is ok

Yet, here is not like a casino. In a casino you know the rates. You know (or can know) your chances to get a red 5, or to get 7 with the die. You can also see the materials used in the game. NCsoft never provides the rates for nothing. We can get some aproximations from players sometimes. You also do not know the RNG software used. And in my experience that RNG can be afected by other things in the game. So nobody knows the real chances here. And if something fails, where you will find support here?

and I did paid for something in the past and a couple of weeks later things changed and was a bad investment.
