Exploits approved and encouraged

I remember when aion first came out.  If you were caught using terrain exploits you got banned.  Now not only can you hack and exploit to your hearts content (and lets not forget bots) but Aion seems to be encouraging you to use exploits in order to "win" events.  The shugo vault, you had to have old weapons and be dual class.  I'd consider that a exploit.  Now this steel rake, you have to exploit the game mechanics in order to win it.  without using exploits of getting the mech thing on the upper levels I can only rescue 5 shugos before I have to go kill the boss. 

This just doesn't feel right to me.  It's as if no one cares.  Of course if NCsoft did care they would run events all levels and gears could benefit from to begin with and that itself would encourage people to play it as designed and not look for flaws in order to beat it.  The flower event was a almost fair event (super geared got chances for more due to being able to run higher level instances).  But the lower and less geared could spend time and work for more petals if they wanted.

Just my view as a normal player, not super geared and not under geared.

I agree on the part that you need to be geared to do this event is wrong. But using the mech on the top level is not a hack, it is a game "glitch" or maybe a feature. Using the hook to hook yourself to a mob to the upper level while instantly using the mech to mount it is almost like a feature. It is the same to using a terrain obstacle to take advantage of pvpve. If you are not using 3rd party program to do something then I do not see how this can be seen as a hack/exploit.

The flower event had the "trade through legion warehouse" exploit, though...

The hookshot thing is a little strange. If not used to move the tachysphere around, then it's only necessary in one location on two kobolds and only if the right shugo spawns on top of that tower which is not always. That's also a little strange. And then they have those mobs patrolling right along the very edge of the upper level platforms, especially by the third miniboss.

I don't mind an event where you get a better reward when you are better geared. We have plenty of events where you don't need any gear at all. So the occasional event that rewards in relation to gear isn't that horrible.

Rakesh has a point about the hook. The video I watched didn't even bother picking it up, because you honestly don't need it if you play the event "legit". My main has no issues. My alts (in CoE gear), rescue 6 shugos and I am good with that as well. I have watched the videos that use the hook to take the tachysphere up to the mini-bosses and it does seem that they place mobs in exact positions to allow you to use the hook to get it up there. So I'm not sure it's an exploit or even a glitch.

Using the duel wield old weapons in the shugo vault just made the thing go faster but wasn't required to actually get an S rank. That event was totally doable in crap-geared alts without using any kinds of exploit/glitch. So that really wasn't much of an exploit.

As Cake pointed out, even the "fair" flower event had an exploit/glitch.

I have come to expect things like this and they don't phase me any more.

All of this is separate and apart from actual hacks (3rd party programs). I think we can question the "buginess" of events without conflating those bugs/exploits/glitches with actual hacking.

if you're not under geared, you are just pretty bad.
I can do it on my gunner using full libertas and rescue all the shugos without exploiting the mecha.
If you have a +15 PVE weapon (wich is really easy on ancients) and some daevanion skills, most classes can do it ok

I finish it on my chanter saving 10 shugos without picking up the hook, and usually have about 3 minutes to spare.

That's nonsense.

 

In the last event, dual wield was broken - yes. Old weapons for atk speed etc was not a big deal to hit s-rank.

 

In full legendary gear, I kill the boss with 10 shugos rescued with 2 minutes to spare. You need to be efficient and pay attention to all the mechanics. I failed 2 times before I finally cleared it, once I knew how to do it it's really easy. I usually stay in there longer than I need to now to farm exp.

"Had?" Nah. I ran that event probably 75 times WITHOUT the old weapon tactic and did just fine. Possibly you had a bad templar if you were struggling in the Shugo event. Temp has to know when it is necessary to gather mobs, when it is NOT necessary, how MANY to gather (don't need a lot before the last boss), and the glad and/or sorc need to be helping gather mobs too.

Just seems to be the players are better at beta testing than the devs =D
