Do you guys remember when...

...we used to get information for upcoming events days/weeks before we would get them? And when we used to get dates about new patches months before we get them, with patch notes for our region (and our regional nerfs obviously)?

The forum is so stale I can taste the mold spores in the air.

no offense but get outta here with that mobile gaming bull PCs will forever be better

Yea PCs will always be better but that is kind of the reason why Aion is in such a sad state. Even mobile games are 100% out performing Aion in terms of being an MMORPG.

They don't care because they know they're not getting as enough money as they did back in the day. Shitty decisions and nerfs lead to bad consequences.

They stopped getting as much money because they ruined Aion themselves and took 0 responsibility for it and tried to shaft the players. If you look at every other game out their including random 20 year old games like Age of empires 2 to name 1 and a recent release of archage unleashed to name another the developers took responsibility and worked on fixing broken mechanics with-in the game.

Ncsoft's idea of fixing the game was to take feedback from the players and figure out how can they make people spend more on their game and have those spending players defend/justify playing Aion. To their credit they did it great. Spending players were defending for a while till they ran out of things to spend on for the most part.

People might spend more and they'd make more money if NCsoft did what they said they'd do when 6.0 dropped. When the servers returned, we got to see a brand new and butchered black cloud market. Only a fraction of what was originally on it was still there. A lot of people were posting about it and the official response we got here on these very forums was that the thew BCM would be like this for a little while until they migrated everything over (like all the costumes, furniture, other cosmetics, etc.) This turned out to be a lie. NCSoft decided to try to create artificial scarcity (and thus demand /buying incentive) by using the same "rotation" strategy for their cosmetics that other more popular MMOs do. They only put a few items on it at a time and leave them there for months. The other problem is that they keep putting up things no one wanted before and still don't want now. They're also trying to sell things that used to be available in game for kinah or arena insignias.

They have to be actively trying to kill this game. I absolutely cannot think of any other explanation for why NA Aion is being mismanaged so badly. Even ****ing Gameforge is doing better at this point and that's crazy to think about.

...NCSoft heard our hatred over the game destruction in 6.0 and they decided to give us Painters. They are THAT in touch with reality.

The first time they started breaking things was in 5.0 when they decided to revamp the looks of the presets, as if anyone asked them to. They made all face presets look as if they are koreans on plastic surgery.

i have never played a game that has gone under, a mmo specifically so i dont know the signs that come with it but does it look like aion is going to to be going over the rainbow bridge this year to you guys? as i really dont want to keep spending money on the game if that looks like the way things are heading. not trying to be a Debbie downer ive only been back since september and was gone since like 4.8 so idk what the game was like in between that hiatus as i didnt keep up on any of it but it just seems like things keep getting more and more quiet in the forums and the game as well

Mmm I don't think it is going to shut down this year. However, I do think it will shut down in the next 1.5-2 years. I think we will have one more server merge and then we'll go on for about another year after that before there just aren't enough people to sustain the one remaining server. So I think Aion will, unfortunately, permanently shut down in late 2021 or early 2022. Just my opinion, of course. :)

As much as I don't want it to, I'd not be surprised for official maintenance mode Soon(tm). Gameforge released 7.2 in EU back in, like, late October, and we don't have word of anything about it in NA. We have a key PvP instance that's been gone for, what, five months?

I wasn't playing Wildstar when it went maintenance mode, but I imagine it looked a lot like this. MXM was a lot like how I've seen Aion lately, too, with longterm broken things, no updates, low player numbers, and it was just outright closed, no maint mode.

But I'm not NCsoft, and I never know when they're going to do things, but with what's up with BnS hypothetically this year and how little love has been paid to Aion in the last year, I don't have high hopes for the game.

Funny how they still have Linage II servers but they are literally giving up on Aion. And Lineage II had its own destruction patch like Aion did in 6.0. I used to play Lineage II and I remember the majority of people quit it massively when they decided to merge every class into one, like every mage in the game would become one mage no matter what race you were. I was a Stormscreamer and the only thing that differentiated me from the other mages was the appearance, not the skills or the stats. They literally simplified everything and we quit the game. I heard an old friend of mine tried the new Lineage and he told me they also have a Painter/Vandal version in that game too, not in the sense of skills or name, but there is a new class that can destroy everyone in seconds.

I am sure they have a list of all the good things that could make the game better and they make sure not to implement any of those. They can't accidentally do all the wrong things for their games.

At one point someone in the developer team will say "hey how about we throw the game out of the window and call it a patch"
And then the rest of the dev team will be like "yes, lets try that and see if it works"

That’s it wrap it up kids, time to find a new game

I've been trying, my dude lol. I've tried out several games in the past 6-8 months, but I haven't found any that have the dynamic combat style that Aion has. I have found some games that I like in other ways, but in the end, the high-speed, super cool combat just isn't there -- and that's what keeps drawing me back to Aion. The only game I have found that felt very similar to Aion in combat was Astellia, and I really liked that game a lot in beta. Unfortunately, it has not been properly advertised, and its playerbase is dwindling very fast. KR servers for it have shut down, so NA will likely follow soon.

Sadly, the age of MMOs is just going the way of the dodo bird in general.

I mean to say the age of MMO's is going the way of dodo birds i feel is not true. WoW classic had the biggest release in 2019. BDO still has 100,000s of players on NA(people have no idea how active NA is)Also with them announcing dungeons later on in 2020 BDO may boom this year. FF14 is going strong with out a doubt square enix still come out with road maps.

The only games that are doing garbage are the games that have developers/publishers that simply do not give a shit about their community. Sad for us who like these games and just want to see them improved communication wise not abandoned but this overall good for the genre as a whole.

I was playing Bless when the writing was on the wall about the servers going down. I left before the actual announcement. This thing is.. they were never open about what was going on. Sure, they had this silly vid of the community manager talking about what they had done (my character was in one!), but they didn't really have forums or anything and their Support was always poop. So there really isn't anything to compare.

B&S English forums has had 6 dev posts in the last week. We have had none. Their first page of Dev Tracker posts goes to Dec. 10th. Ours goes to Nov. 7th. Their German and French Dev Tracker posts are pretty similar to ours.

As a forums "person", I can remember times when I would sit down with my coffee in the morning and it would take me ages to get through the posts from overnight. There are some days now when there won't be a single new post and often of the 2 or 3 posts that there actually are, I find I have nothing to contribute. It's only once or twice a week that someone asks a real question that can be answered. Most posts are complaining about the lack of communication, fixes and content.

I don't want to be a Chicken Little. And yes.. I foretold the Death of Aion once before, but that was after the first merges and the failed "One Month of Free Transfers" that lasted a week and resulted in a complete lock down on any transfers for months. Since then I have tried to keep a level head when most everyone else is panicking, but I can sincerely say that I wouldn't be surprised if Aion went into maintenance mode.

Trying not to be sad about that and it's tough. But whatever. It's been a good run.

The harsh reality is, everything I once got excited about has been annihilated from the game. There's literally nothing I look forward to anymore. It has gotten to the point where I'm not even playing. I hardly log in to check for kinah bundles anymore.

I don't know why I'm hanging onto to my account. I guess I'm just waiting for an official announcement that the servers are closing or something. Even if I were to find a new game to play, I don't think I could bring myself to uninstall Aion until that happens. ?

I dunno I'm still hoping for a miracle that will save Aion. There just isn't any other game out there that even closely compares to it. So while I too see the writing on the wall I can hope that fulfillment of such is still a long ways off, and I can still hope for my miracle during this time.
