Obviously I mean in Korea the player base isn't what it use to be but what they have is fairly dedicated to the game similar to here and EU but its a much larger group of players. PlayNC does advertisements for the game still and listens more to the players on the forums obviously not to all but there is more interaction between the players and the team than we have here. It is definitely not perfect in Korea but it seems like NA is more whatever KR decides we follow and listens less to what the NA players want. With work I float between KR and NA and I play actively on both and post in forums and chat with people on both complaints are mostly echoed on their server as well. So there is much they can do so I don't want people here to not talk about the possibility of Classic but actually think and give some ways we could make it work here but also not neglecting the retail. Because if retail dies there will be no Classic.

Such a terrible idea for NA... Already a small community, to make it more split would be the death of the game. NA has been notoriously terrible with ALL Private servers that attempted to do the same

I don't think you understand the hype about classic. I haven't played Aion in a very long time (3.0 or something like that). Opening a classic server would bring a lot of older players that don't play

I admire your optimism that a classic server would last more than three months with an even halfassedly decent population. It's like you've all forgotten or are blinded by nostalgia. If NA r

People that are constantly against the idea of a classic server keep on using the excuse of "it will kill off the retail servers". The truth is, the retail servers have been dead for a while. Maybe dead isn't the right term to use as it seems people refer to dead being the immediate closure of the game/servers, but I guess the more appropriate phrase would be "it's just there". It's not alive, it's not dead... but it's just there. It's there for people to wait around for a new patch, to influx a bunch of players to run stuff for a few weeks to gather more gear, and then go back to a just enough people to log in on a daily basis to do afk events or a few quests to keep the game in it's "just there" state.

I think some people that still currently play and haven't stepped away from the game for ever or even for a few weeks/months in the most recent past simply don't understand and are blinded by their own tunnel vision as to how dead the servers are in the west.

So will introducing Aion Classic kill the current retail servers? Probably yes. But like I said, the current servers are in a state of just existing. If anything, I feel like a lot of you may even need this wake up call to finally go do something else other than play this game that you mostly waste time now a days just logging in to do the same repeatable action on a daily basis. Whether that's giving you the opportunity to try out the Aion Classic, or maybe just getting away from Aion to give you an opportunity to try another game or give you other experiences in real life.

In the end, will Aion Classic be huge in NA? I 100% guarantee you it will at the start. Will it continue being hugely populated/popular? Well that really depends on the community. And knowing this community, not only known for it's toxicity but also know for it's constant complaining, it will probably die down in a few months. The only hope that the Aion Classic servers have in terms of longevity is if it's populated by a big European population, and that is a possibility if EU's Gameforge aren't given the publication rights to host their own Aion Classic, which I wouldn't be surprised if NCsoft does that in order to create a monopoly on the market and force all the Europeans to play NCwest, in which case since it is their only option, they would even with the thoughts of a high ping and messed up schedules. In the end, even if we do not get the European population to play with us, I can say from the bottom of my heart that people would enjoy the Classic much more than this sorry excuse for a game that you guys are currently playing.

If I guess were just going to pretty much remove retail and go all in Classic the sub fee would not be enough to keep the NA server running by itself. There wouldn't even be a chance to test out Classic before it gets flooded with p2w in order to keep the income well enough for them to put people on the game to work on it. You would have bugs and they get around to it when they get around to it and the shop would again fill with the things that frustrate the players most. Since we are talking pre 3.0 cap as far as Korea has planned these are things like loot, AP, and other things you have to grind a considerable amount for imagine playing classic and people who are wallet warriors in full 50e in the first few weeks. Maybe they start adding  other things that weren't in game at this point. From playing classic there in Korea so far really isn't much changed so there are bound to have the same issues they had in the past and for NA those things would go months unaddressed. Currently its just not viable to have here we need to fix up our server to be in a better more stable place before we try to have NCwest take on something like Classic. I am not saying it can't happen but not now or in the next month or 2. 6mo-1yr then we can talk about the details a bit more

The biggest reason NA is gonna get screwed over is by the hackers. The p2w wont matter. Those going in doing the upper forts solo getting all the chests solo. Doing lower forts solo getting all the chests there as well. That is what will make NA players quit before p2w items even makes it to the discussion table.

We know NCwest can not provide the region with the support classic will need to keep a fair gaming environment. I would wager more than 80% of classics playerbase would quit before p2w even hit the table due to the hacking that will be rampant in our region.

To have a Classic server or not to have a Classic server?

I think the answer does not really matter as long as we continue with the poor managment provided by NC West.

Its not poor management,

They have to follow what KR's marketing team allows them to do.

They honestly need more advertising for the game. And for classic do non pay to win subscriptions and cosmetic shop, maybe even a season pass.

But the key here is to get permission from NCSOFT KR.

I'm telling you, NCsoft will refuse to give GF publishing rights, open up a classic server in NA, allowing NA players to play it and forcing any Europeans that want to play classic to come to NA. Perfect marketing strategy. If this becomes the case, you don't even need to advertise, you just need to mention it 2 weeks before release and watch 2 full servers of 10k per server population pop up.

With that said, NA better update their servers to better ones in Virginia than the shitty ones they have right now. I had smoother playing with 200 ping in KR just now than I have with 60 ms in NA. Stable higher ping > Unstable lower ping.

If they were to have a classic server, I would come back to the game, even with subscription. When Lineage 2 came out with a classic server, I went back to it. It was such a sight to see the classic L2, I had missed it so much, but NCSoft screwed it up and in couple months I left. I have a feeling they will do the same for Aion if they were to bring back a classic server. Anyway, I would still come back, even if it is just for a little while.

I did the exact same with L2. I'm sure they'd also mess up the classic Aion after a while too but man... for a few months it'd be so great. I'd love to rift in a populated Elten and Heiron again and explore the mountains and hills for epic kisk spots. I so want to try a few classes that I never really got a chance to play in those patches in addition to my favorite class, gladiator. I want the abyss so I can gank some peeps and grind guards and fort instances. I want to hopefully hook up with the tons of people I'm pretty sure would return back to Aion and form groups to run B Dredge... So much I want!

Yes please.

I played Aion during Betas and at launch all the way to something like 5.0 .. that High Daeva stuff was BS and armors that could break on enchanting.. and medals that could be traded. That was the end of it for me.

I would LOVE a classic server that wasn't some private garbage.

Heck I wish I could play the Korean one

Also bring back the hate page, that was fantastic ; )

Watching korean streams, I saw that it takes like 20-30 hours to go from around lv 20 to 30 something by farming elites with full group and things like fire temple.

Is everybody ok with that ?

That is the point of the classic, and if you don't like it, you can stay on retail. I'm not trying to be rude but even in the other topic you're suggesting things be changed. No. That's not what the classic is about.

I never understand why the NA population feels so privileged and entitled to list their own tweaks to the game, when no, people simply want to play the classic game the way it was when it came out.

If you want a tweaked game, either create your own private server or if that's too much, stay on retail.

Hey, im perfectly fine with that, thats the way i think it should be. Im just asking because many people might not remember what was the reality back then. Wearing whites, not having a full set of accessories, having to rest between mobs, etc.

@Matsukamy-KT The appeal of classic is you are what you put in. If you are bad at the game and can not complete content in whites well craft some gear or even buy some coin gear and improve your stats and then go back and beat that content you could not do. Being weak in an MMORPG results in players often grouping up first before upgrading their gear thus bringing the community together. Compare this to retail where some classes can solo content based on their gear it makes sense why people like it over current retail.

Current retail is you are weak until you are not. Sure you can do content in lesser gear but it just means more time not more rewarding because you know how far behind you really are. It feels like you are wasting time doing anything in sub par gear in Retail because there is no pro-active choice to improve your character to improve your gameplay. It is wait around be graced by developer/publisher screws ups by making events to good and hope they do not nerf it.

I am sure many of those who would play classic would rather see balance/fixes brought back to Aion retail but the reality is NCsoft show no interest in fixing the problems that retail Aion has.

Sywo was the guy who made videos on how 6.0 would revive the game and he mentioned how much he likes RNG and then was happy to tell us that he needs his wallet to progress. Of course 6.0 (or 6.2 for us) ended up being the worse patch in the history of Aion.

What I understand is that Aion classic is not old Aion, it is the older patches mechanics with the old maps and a little bit of 2020 refinements (fixing what didn't work back in the days), and if Aion Classic has to be, then this is the best way to be.

That could well be what people want however they won’t be getting  the game as it was when it was first played here. - that ship has sailed.

It HAS been altered, I’m a number of ways by KR I enjoyed the game from beta until recently, while I find it amusing that you don’t find it rude to label all of the NA population to have the same mindset ( I.e. insisting on tweaks) it’s not so amusing to ignore the effects that a classic server would have on already struggling retail servers in NA.

Indeed check out from about 6:13 as l’ve been saying- this is not the same model as Aion classic - and is this really the best way to be? No thanks

If they are fixing things that never worked back then and created injustice (whatever those could be) then I do not see it as bad. But I personally won't play aion classic. No way am I getting myself into that again.
