Paragon Equipment Issues Update

Hi everyone - we wanted to provide an update on the events surrounding the Paragon Equipment issues which saw significant discussion over the last week.

Recently, we learned that certain players had discovered a flaw in the game, which allowed them to obtain a variety of items they had not legitimately earned. Instead of reporting this issue to the game's staff, these players chose to exploit it and distribute items to other players within Aion.

Once we were aware of this happening, we were able to identify and patch the issue swiftly, thanks in-part to player reports. Consequently, the items we identified have been removed and players who were verified to have engaged in illicit behavior related to the incident have been permanently banned from the game. Such behaviors include one, or numerous violations of NC West's user agreement.

Although this topic saw widespread discussion, our investigation found that the vast majority of created items did not make it into the hands of other players.

Despite that, in our haste to contain the incident and action nefarious players, we failed to identify that a small number of seemingly innocuous +7 Paragon items were sold to unaware players via the broker in exchange for Kinah. We have recently reversed of these players' bans, and have refunded the Kinah they spent on the items as they we feel they were victims in this incident.

We thank all players for their cooperation in this matter - your early reports of this incident helped us to act quickly and contain this issue. Thank you for your patience while we investigated, and for your dialogue throughout the event. We hope this helps you understand how we're approaching this issue.

On a separate note, we have seen many of you ask about Aion's 7.9 patch and we look forward to sharing details with you later this week.

All the best.

@Kibbelz Thanks for the update!

Only 2 notes:

1- It is important to consider other items being exploited too. Some things that made less noise and by that can go unseen, like runestones / dazzlings / extend weapon/ etc... Pretty sure if people were exploiting something as broken as paragon 15, they could easily exploit other items in the game too. So, reviewing it and taking action for this items would be important too!

2-  Is it possible to open view detail for all? you already saw that the community will help and report whatever is weird, so having "view detail" function open for all will help us ensure nothing is left behind.

Thanks in advance!

That wont work because you have to many petty people here trying to either report people based on rumor, the fact they dont like them , or simply because that person has better gear + then they do. Dumbest suggestion ever

Ok. waiting for a better solution @HavocChordz-KT - seems like you are around just to criticize others, haha!

There isn't anything we can do on the player side to legit hunt these items. If they were created by these same accounts that got banned Im sure they looked at EVERYthing that came from those accounts. Otherwise, they know we would give them serious hell later. Having trolls sitting around monitoring others gear would solve what? How do they know when it was made? How long was taken  to make it? See my point

This is how the issue should have been managed. Thank you for doing so and for communicating the updates to us ! Please continue to do so !

why you assume only trolls would sit around to check gear? your point still don't support "why" a simple view detail open is so bad lol.

I know that we did not restrict our investigation to only examining paragon gear - and included other items/equipment such as the ones you mentioned. As to the 'view detail' suggestion, we're always open to suggestions from the community and in seeing what there is support for so will be curious to see how conversation evolves from here.

@MechEagle-DN we clarified this in our post - the four players who had their bans reservesed purchased items which are regularly available via the broker at market prices. There was nothing  irregular about their transactions. Please be constructive in your feedback - we're all ears, but inaccurate criticism which only serves to spread misinformation isn't helpful for anyone. :(

With how hard yourself and a few others seem to be trying to push this it sounds pretty sus like you have an alterior motive.

This would cause more harm than good, you would be able to see your opponent's gear in arenas which are meant to be anonymous in the beginning and throughout the fight.  Given our small population it would be even easier to guess who you are facing in arenas and try and adapt accordingly. Not to mention potentially gain an advantage against the other player if you are checking their manastone/tuning builds to counter your sets to theirs.

The community figured out just fine people were exploiting paragon weapons with details closed, using this as an excuse to try and remove a game function that has been since launch and serves a valid purpose seems pretty sketch on your part.

hm, so this would benefit me by seeing who I will fight in arena!? I guess you never heard of MyAion dps meter?

Go check it out!

I have no intentions to take advantage for myself but more like for everyone in the game, making it transparent after an exploit of items.

It is funny to see people so afraid to open view detail, haha!

This is a good suggestion and seems like the one's against it have nothing to do with the game, only 1 post, criticizing, and probably lacking stuff to do IRL too.

I am really surprised at how you handled the situation. I did not expect. It was very fair! Ty NcTeam! Ty @Kibbelz
And about leaving details open permanently, I think it's an excellent idea! This would make situations like this one at Paragon, be observed and resolved much faster.
I vote for viewing details open for all !!

Thanks Kibbelz for updating the community on all this. It is disappointing that as the population on Aion shrinks, more people turn to cheating. I wish we could eliminate all the cheating tools in Aion, but I also realize that is easier said than done. Hopefully, no more exploited 10-15 paragon running around. 1 piece +10 is near impossible and even more so a full set.

Looking forward to hopefully good events and progress in the coming months. It would be good to make this game more accessible to all players without having to spend a thousand bucks.
