Housing Auction Returns Open In Late October

Recommended Posts

Yea, seriously. I want a chance at getting a house again. (I'm still bitter that I had to lose it to the server merge; I'd owned that same house for FIVE YEARS. I'm trying to be positive by looking at this as a new opportunity to get a mansion instead of a house this time around, but we'll see....)

So how does this whole housing thing go down?  I assume a new lot comes open and is placed for auction and there's some sort of bidding war that goes on until a specific time has gone by and then the person wins it.  But after reading @Yuzu-DN's comment about owning it for 5 years, does that mean there are monthly/yearly maintenance fees involved and if you don't pay them by a certain date the house goes back on the market for people to bid on again?  When I used to play Aion, I only had the standard issue studio and like never got involved in decorating it or anything.  After I got all involved in my EverQuest 2 house & the fact that I love playing The Sims, I'd like to look into something bigger than a balcony and 1 room.  I know I don't have the kinah for those mansions and big ass houses but maybe something with 2-3 rooms would be nice.

Basically, every Monday through Sunday starts a new auction week where players can bid on a house by either going to the house they want to bid on (there's a little white sign in front of the house that you can right-click on and it will take you to housing auctions), or talking to the Housing Auction lady over in Pernon/Oriel, and goes until the following Sunday. Depending on what size of house you want, the price will vary. You can pick between a House, a Mansion, an Estate, or (if there is ever one up for auction) a Palace. For a rough estimate, a House usually goes for 12mil Kinnah at it's lowest.

As for the properties themselves, depending on what you get, you'll have a one-room area, and a front yard to decorate with trees, bushes, or Guestblooms, which can give you certain items after a certain number of times a player interacts with it (you included). You can also have a mailbox that lasts 60 days if you'd like as well to c heck new messages, but that's up to you. The larger the house size, the more Guestblooms and furniture (indoor and outdoor) you can decorate with. You can separate sections of the giant space with partitions, make it open-plan, turn it into whatever you fancy. There's also furniture stores around Pernon/Oriel that you can get some pieces to start, and use furniture paint to dye the pieces into other colors. You can get those from various potted plants around Pernon/Oriel, which you'll need to do to collect Guestpetals to use on your own Guestblooms or other players' Guestblooms. There's also using Hearthblooms, which you can put in your house (and studio if you want to try it for yourself!) and use to get cool items like manastones and coins.

For costs, you'll pay the auction fee once you get the house, and will have a grace period of two weeks where you won't have to pay anything. After that, you'll have to pay a weekly rent. The price will vary depending on which size house you get. For example, a House's rent will be 400k Kinnah every week, and that's the lowest rent price. It might seem daunting to pay it at a lower level, but once you're over level 65 and in Illuma/Norsvold, you can take some daily quests that will give you 1mil Kinnah each time you complete it. Not to mention, you can always use the Broker to sell items, take up Crafting skills to sell materials to other players, or do other daily quests that can offer a lot of Kinnah over time.

There's also an option you can do where you can pay up to a month's worth of rent in advance, which in my opinion is a better option so you don't have to worry about logging in every week just to pay the rent off, plus gives you more time to get more bank to go towards your house. I normally did that with my rent, and it was good considering I don't get the chance to play as often as I'd like due to work and other things.

I hope that answers your question! I'm crossing my fingers in hoping that the housing auctions come back up soon - I'm missing my house so much.
