steps I took to solve this issue:
1) run a "scan files" operation
2) uninstalled and reinstalled the game and launcher when (1) did not workActually I get this message on Classic when NO maint. is happening. Have done the steps you tried some times it fixed it sometimes it didnt. I do believe however it is a server side issue with not much to be done about it

The bot farmers have been injecting too much kinah into the economy via selling to the merchant, so they are going to stop that.

I HEARD in KR they are using a World Broker. Which helps with needing to buy items. That way its harder to gouge. However, if it is true that is why it seems they dont care about drop rates, but WHERE do they get the kinah to even buy? I get you get some from questing but it also costs to place items on broker, and not being able to charge millions of kinah, I dont see anyone get shugo rich quick. Plus why would KR have such an issue with changing drop rate back? Unless its just to kill the outside market game play? UGH.

Drop bug. You don't need to fuse weapon while leveling though, the first weapon you need to fuse is 55 TAC really. But the drop bug makes it hard to get kinah for sure. If you want to have kinah while leveling your first char, you need to play blue quests, and be smart about the broker (sell valuable manastones etc).
But really, this game has over 1,000 blue quests. It's kinda funny that people play like 5 of those and then complain about not having kinah.

This thought process here is why I am opposed to fast leveling. People need time playing their classes and learning the skills- what they do and situations when to use them. . I have played a healer sometimes reluctantly in most games I have played. I can deal with asshats. Its just about the GP of it all sometimes. Tell people "dont come back til youre geared/stig'd....but ahem just how are ya gonna do that without robbing the poor shugo!?! Helping each other to a point helps people learn. But when we are all out for ourselves just trying to nickel and dime to get needed in game junk it just makes it more frustrating and more toxic. Especially when any other game I have played they F it up, hot fix within days not months. Or atleast they have explained so the player base knows. Not really heater over stones since I have no gear to actually put it on ROFL.....which is a whole other other other issue!

There is a huge Latina portion in Classic, and by definition, they are not from the EU. I have stopped playing Aion, but I bet there will be reports here about the change in player numbers when the EU goes live. I would be really surprised if it has a great impact. Peak online times in Classic are after midnight in the EU. Most EU people have lives, so they go to sleep, therefore the vast majority of online players at peak times, should be from other locations than the EU.
In OG Aion I actually left NA server as it was so congested you couldnt more. We played on the EU server Oceana I think it was, and then it was merged. There were scads of EU players back then, I can say how many now as its nowhere near what it was.....sigh. Sad. Miss my EU Babies.

You seem to be more upset about the people that play the game more than the game issues. Again as I stated in my opinion of your post......you need to do alot more research into the people that play before you can BEGIN to even comment. I do enjoy the conversation, and Im not mad at ya, but why spend the time flaming other's opinion when yours is a bit flawed?
I will let you know April 17th if I decide to sub up with the EU if you like, which if they are keeping an eye on NA, hopefully has learned what to avoid the pitfalls we have here. Til then, guess we shall continue to joust here?

The entire premise of this post was how much easier OG classic was. It seems your memories slipped. In classic, you weren't able to turbo to 55 with campaign XP. The broker wasn't loaded with gold armor drops. Free Steel Rake gear wasn't a thing. Full set of Anuhart from the cash shop wasn't a thing. Nobody could kill Taha or Stormwing.
It's weird how righteous you're all acting. You all say not to give money, then turn around and say give money to GameForge. You cancel your auras and come back a week later. You sell your accounts and start new ones a month later. You act like you know what to do but you can't even do what you say.
I've been posting for a year now about how drops should be improved. You can go read my post history. What pisses me off about everyone here, is how you think you know everything. You don't know. You don't know about me. You don't know how the game was in retail. You don't know how the game was in classic. You don't know how the game is now. You don't know statistics. You don't know how to quit. You don't know anything at all. Yet you all act like you know.
So let me get this straight......I dont know anything about the game I played from beta, and wasnt there when the
I complained about affected MY game play. I dont know how to quit a game I actually LOVED playing because I came back YEEEEEEARS later to semi classic version of classic (because KR tried to improve on the classic mostly for RETURNING players) and AGAIN paid money expecting NCSWest to hold up their end of the contract. But basically, in the end I know nothing at all?......
So wtf are you mad at? The player base or the Admin? Since YOU have been posting for a year (bless your little heart) YOU feel YOU and YOU alone are the ONLY player that knows ANYTHING about Aion? Its not rocker science Dear. Before YOU can even make a millionth of the the ASSumptions YOU make in this post YOU would have to spoken to EVERY poster to ascertain their experiences with Aion and NVSWest. So until then YOU are just like EVERYONE ELSE. While SOME points you make are valid, the rest is just YOUR whiny opinion about YOUR experiences and thoughts about the game and the people that play it......

But I really disagree with your perception of end game. Do you know what the best offensive armor is for many classes in the game? 50e. Yes, that armor that came out in what, 1.0? It did not get "replaced" by new and better gear. It's dirt cheap. Only weapons and defensive gear got upgrades.
You can easily clear Besh Temple without stigmas. The vast majority of clerics are wearing DPS stigmas for it because it's a hassle to change and there's not much risk of wiping without them. Most groups clear every boss on the first try, with ease, except possibly stormwing.
You don't need enchantment stones as a new player. Only getting your weapon to +10 is worth it. You get very little benefit from enchanting armor unless you spend billions to +15 and have full GBG accessories. If you are a new player and you're not selling your enchantment stones for millions a pop, then you're royally screwing up and that's almost certainly why you're poor.
Same with medals. Everyone is going to sieges, right? The sapphires are still selling for 2.5m and I hope you're not using them. I've made billions of kinah just from medals. Even my alts can get them because nobody is going. I guess everyone hates money?
Manastones really are necessary though. If your dps are not fully socketed with the best green manastones, then their characters are going to be rubbish. This can cost like 500m with the current prices and is the biggest pain point. The only class that doesn't even need manastones for pve is cleric. This makes the crying over Splendor of Purification absolutely ridiculous. Other classes need 500m in manastones and cleric needs a 30m stigma? That's like three sieges worth of medals.
Any class with magic boost can use damage godstones, which are very cheap and possibly best in slot. Only melees get screwed. I see that people still aren't aware that paralyze and stun basically don't exist, coming primarily from Enraged Meno and fort repeats, which nobody does. It's easily the most rare drop in the game, so rare that I've literally never seen a screenshot of it. Compare this to retail, where I found two of them on my own before 2.0. This is actually a problem on a server with a low population, because paralyze is the only godstone that can proc against a transform.
Relax with criticizing the new instances. The three-person instance drops eternal belts, which look to be best in slot pve and tradeable. I don't know what the others drop but they're only been out a month. The hard truth is nobody does Unyielding BT because the people who play this game are rubbish. We have nothing but wallet warriors and afkers who give up immediately after a wipe. Literally the day that Padma came out, people were already trying to cheese it. Nobody has done the fight without dps racing it. Groups are clearing this daily on the first try but they're entirely comprised of geared sins/sorcs/glads. I've seen two eternal weapons, one eternal armor, and a few gold armors already. This is easily the highest drop rate instance in the game... it literally drops best in slot gear for a few minutes of your time. I can't even understand why anyone would ever complain about very quick fights without a dungeon, that drop best in slot gear, with loot rights that can be sold. Do you know how bad farming Taha was?
AP trading is not even needed in 2.0. You can farm bots until you're capped, queue-dodge instances, then buy forts. With that said, the asmos you're complaining about abused logging out with transform before it was patched. They were bullying people doing dailies 24/7, spying with alts on the other faction, and glide into the forts with a no-glide-zone around them. If they will do anything to possible to win, to the point of getting reported for it, then why not AP trade or hack too.
First of all why offend the PLAYER BASE? Part of the reason people do not progress or know how to "play correctly" is because of the elitist upper echelon. Those that enjoyed classic from the beginning know the runs and there for RUSH through. Most times without explaining or having the patients for new players. This causes more frustration within the game. Being under geared or stoned causes these "bully types" to brand players as bad or rubbish as you said. HELPING players, which does happen occasionally, will help keep new blood so they can become better players. This is not an Admin issue this is a player based issue easily dealt with.
You complain about the hacking asmos, but not the hacking Elyos. There is no easy way to report these people as they removed the ability to do so...wonder why that is? If the Admin is not willing to do
about the hacking/botting issue going and doing the same is not the answer. Personally I just beat the crap out of the bot keeping them from doing what they are programed to do. But as a player WE should not have to do the Admins job. (However if they want to hire me to do so I am not apposed to that!)
Plus you may not be aware of the opposite faction issues without being the spy complained about. I play asmo, and the groups looking to do UT/BT etc looking for players actually say in their posts GEARED <insert class needed> IE the items that are NOT dropping/or are SO expensive: Stones/Gear blah blah, so you cant even get into said groups. Using Adma for example. Most are RUSHING to Lannok bypassing other mini bosses which drop upgrades. So without upgrades its going to be harder to get the better gear, unless you happen to have millions of Kinah to BUY loot rights. Then you can have the BEST Cleric in the game healing, but without Splendor of Pacification you need to be nimble quick to double dispel to keep the group from wiping. While it is possible to do, its frustrating and again the elitist bullies (some are same said people that sell stigma for 30mil+) blame the cleric for the wipe and end up kicking the cleric thereby cheating them of the main reason they are there. Which people miss the point of selling in the first place. It is not to just make you "Game Rich" it is to ALSO to help the others in game that you rely on to get things done. IE the afore mentioned cleric. If its too hard to play without getting flames, they quit or they simply play another class and you are left not being able to run for lack of healers. Im not just stating these as a hypotheticals, this has happened to me before, and not just this game.
Im not going to totally rip apart your opinion as you are entitled to it as are we all. And most of your post is spot and helpful too about mechanics and needs of players to advance, thank you for that. But the main and truest fact of the matter is this: Becuase of the lack of Admin doing the simplest tasks of their function NA Aion is dying. Period. It would be much easier to have SOMEONE ANYONE explain to us WTF is doing on. Some that are actually spending money in the form of Seil's Aura deserve atleast that. Had someone done so, and done so CORRECTLY alot of this could have been avoided. Most of us know NCSWest does not have the legal rights to pick Aion apart, but seems to me that is kind of whats happeneing..... I personally think Admin is TRYING to kill NA Aion. Why else would they do as they are doing? This is the same thing that happened in CoH (City of Heroes.) Once they decided to kill the game, during the last days there were stupid issues and no Admin around to help, nor did they bother to fix ANYTHING. The player base was left to nyerk and moan about it. IF thats the case tell us.....I understand they want to nyerk and pillage as much as they can get in the end, but really this becomes a legal issue now. Yes real life legal. They are offering a service which they are not providing, Imagine if they are counting on 1mil from players buying Seil's but then are sued for 30mil and lose...... where is the come up in that? Bottom line is SOMETHING is going on behind the scenes and its about time someone start telling us something! /rant off not trying to Hijack your post.

Don't move to EU classic, the publisher is worse, just don't play Classic instead of playing that over and over.
FictionGirl: MY simple answer? Most of us dont play because we like the publisher of a game. We play for the Lore and the fun of it. We play with friends or make them as we play, THATS what makes the game fun and why people stay or come back. Look at World of Warcraft. As old as that game is atleast the DEVs add new content and listen to its player base, and keep it fresh and actually knows what maintenance means. That is why we keep playing or returned for almost 20 years. Obviously people like playing Aion or no one would be upset at the current events happening with it. If we looked at it the way you do, why play ANY game new or old...they are all the same: Make a toon, level a toon, craft some junk, battle the opposing faction, talk crap in LFG, gripe at the DEVs etc. If you look closely no one is bitching about AION the game, we are bitching about the lack of communication from those supposedly responsible for providing information about issues changes etc. Hope that helps?........

Dear NCS
Why? Why even bother with the classic server if you were not willing to maintain it? You had a great game and let it fall apart. Now the money you want and need will be flowing across the sea. You do realize that MAINTINACE means to MAINTAIN right? So far you have done nothing to keep any of your player base informed OR happy. All you have managed to do is nyerk people off and start a bunch of law suits. If your main goal was to crash Aion Classic to create a mass exodus......CONGRATZ, it worked! However this doesnt bode well for your new game coming out. Why would we want to leave a game you FU for another game you run, just to get interested and invested in another, just to have to kill it? Mind you this is the THIRD time you have killed a game for me. Would be sad if a boycott of your NEW game caused it to also flop.... Of course I do understand you only copy and paste from KR, but you could atleast hire a monkey to type a response to the millions of request for info. Even being told to FO is better than silence. If its staff hire some actual people then, all it takes is ONE person to offer and explanation.
To the player Base: Yes I understand no one but us will read this post, but it gives me an outlet to say a thing or two. If you want to add to it GREAT, feel free. But if you want to just flame....why bother no one will be around to read it........

I thought I read KR was ok with the loss of drops and this was the reason we were hit with it. Instead of checking codes it was copied and pasted and poof there went NA drop rate......but then again there are so many d dashing rumors because NCWest cant seem to figure out how to actually type a message instead of copying and pasting, so the rumor ill runs amuck.

Edit: I scrolled through the earlier posts. What happened with your manastones? They pretty much removed all the good ways of getting them off the non classic version too.
Actually they totally nerked Classic and are at this point stealing money from the player base. Not only did manstones disappear but No Drops, no kinah, and broker prices are SO INSANE why play. But it seems like you guys over on Retail arent having much fun either.

My 53 Cleric is in the same boat. We kept track of kills/drops in 100 kills......1 %^$% scale. There is something fishy going on and I for one dont like being lied to or stolen from. The money we spent is to get the full content of this game, since its not being given I feel everyday this has been broken we should get back. After all when you buy a comity, and its not what you were supposed to be given you are issued a refund right?

Now their is always a compromise in the gaming world. NSC can roll back, and then offer you something (most likely stupid) in return. So the players that got lucky may lose out, but they cant be made, they knew something must be wrong, but they kept collecting.

I wondered what happened, why so many were peeved about retail. I just returned from a long hiatus. Do know if Classic will follow retail and some point catch up to become just an earlier version of retail? Or will they stop at some point? I myself logged into Retail......and promptly logged out as it was just sad to see they gutted the game.

FFS &%$^ happens.....but yeah that looks pretty bad. But honestly really why the roll back, it might not have a great impact except for the people that sell SW gear and those of level since kinah heavy players now have their gear. So lets see what NCS has to say if they ever bring the server back up.

I have the same issue from time to time, in fact thats why Im here now. I used hit the SCAN button down in the right corner and some times that will fix it, but it doesnt seem to be working today. Not sure why this happens, on other games its because the server is over loaded with people trying to log in.
My method: Try logging if that doesnt work, then scan game files. Try logging in again. If that doesnt work exit the launcher immediately scan files then log in again. Other than I have never found a work around for this issue, but know you arent the only one who has the issue.

Yeah thats what brought me here. Happens alot. I run the scan and some times it then lets me in. If servers are busy......where are all these players lol? Maybe with the holidays and most of the country being snowed in why not Aion? Thanks for the info.

Fell into this thread by accident. Sadly he isnt wrong. I guess if you cant be a legend in life......pixels are the next best thing? FFS why couldnt you just leave it at the nice answer Cookie gave, or TRY being constructive instead of debasing yourselves. Honestly like Cookie said many people asked the same thing. As for a closer answer: No, your toon would not be able to transfer, but granting a returning player a max level char COULD be possible.......It simply would be devoid of any real content. Not faction, quest, craft/gather ect. Since Ponci brought it it, using a Boost token as in WoW could see that done. (See there was a CONTRUCTIVE way to being in WoW without being ATDB)
But since the Siel's dodad makes leveling so simple all you really have to do is sneezing. As a returning player myself its not bad at all, plus now you can correct the mistake you made on your first toon. Give it a try. As far as the board, Dont be afraid to post, and ignore the snark, and speak your mind as other do, whats the worse they can do, get mad, rage quit the board and stick a remote.......nm (sure Ponci gets where I was headed with that! LOL) Bottom line enjoy life as for the rest F&FF. Merry Christmas all!

No however there are player and posters here that are from the EU and can answer the question......as you see was done. Plus there are many players that play and visit forums outside of their region. I started playing Aion on EU based server. The lag was less and the people were nicer.......as you see was done. Im actually wondering of it was delayed bue to this change of events? I mean GF is no doubt aware of the issues NCSW is having and dont want the same issue, so may be TRYING to renegotiate? But the sad fact of the matter, we in the NA might only be able to get any game related info from EU going live. IF they have DEVs that actually GAS about their players, it might be worth asking..........
