Many people are leaving the game, or have simply stopped subscribing. Myself included. The bot problem in NA is nowhere near as bad as the bot problem in KR; so, there's no reason for us to get shafted by the same policies. Their war on bots has been ongoing from the launch of Classic; but, they've not once taken a step to actually punish them without punishing legitimate players, as well (to my knowledge). There are a handful of problems that people complaining here have; with the highest ranking one simply being that there's no communication from NCSOFT West about the issue.
Employing someone in the west is expensive. There probably aren't enough people buying things in this game to cover even a single employee dedicated to it. I would hope that's not true; but, sadly....
Anyway, if they hired a single person dedicated to oversight of Aion Classic with a technical background to create regional fixes, cultivate and engage with the community, and take action against bots/cheaters, they might actually see a return on their investment. That's assuming, of course, that the license from the KR developers actually allows them to take such actions.
The biggest issue in-game right now is how scarce drops are. It even seems like some items have been removed from the drop pool entirely. This may have been an effort against bots, but it punishes legitimate players more than else. If NCSOFT West has the authority to make changes regarding the drop rates, then they need to do so. If not, they need to tell us their hands are tied.
It's baffling to me that this issue has been ongoing for so long. If they don't have permission to make the change, there's not much they can do; but, if they have permission, this should have been fixed within one day. I've seen people saying it takes time for a fix like this; but, it doesn't take several weeks worth. We were told the issue would be addressed by March 1st; but, now six weeks past that, it has yet to be fixed, or even acknowledged again.
The irritation within the community is understandable; and, to make matters worse, we're getting the silent treatment from the NA team; who are likely not going to tell us anything until they have a fix ready to apply.
If anyone from the NA team reads this post, please tell the KR developers that making changes to game mechanics is never effective against cheaters. Please suggest that they shift their focus to breaking cheating software through automated (and randomized) obfuscation/reorganization of client code and network opcodes/protocol. This could be an automated part of the build process for the client/server. While a slight inconvenience, players will generally not complain about a client update that breaks cheating software; and, the developers who created the cheating software will have to fight an uphill battle to reverse engineer the new client functions/object memory layout before they get altered again by another update. Making the development and distribution of effective cheating software infeasible should be a higher priority than punishing legitimate, non cheating, players.
