  1. Basically, this server move fvcked the people playing on the west coast in USA. Having a server all the way on the east coast instead of in the middle of the country? Really bad idea.

I live in the general "middle" area of the USA (about 7 hours north of where the servers used to be). My ping used to be 25-30 on average. Now it is 60-100. That's a much bigger gap range, and I think that's with what a lot of people are taking issue. A steady 100 ping is better than a range of 60-100. It's too unpredictable, and makes gameplay feel jumpy/laggy.

Additional data after trying two different ping reducers yesterday:

Again, without ping reducer is 60-100.

    ExitLag using NY route: 60-70

    BattlePing using D.C. route: 60-80

    BattlePing using Atlanta route: 80-110

So not much point in paying for a ping reducer since it's about the same ms, but just stabilized better. For me, it's playable, but again, for west coast players, it's unplayable now. (And that's not even counting people outside of the USA who, to be honest, I don't even know how they deal with their wild 250+ ping.)

Can confirm. I haven't had the pin bug on DN since I upgraded to the new launcher. So it's a KT problem -- like many other problems. :(

Oh damnit. As of yesterday's server move, the pin bug is back on DN server. Welp, it was nice while it lasted. Smh...

  3. Some people have mentioned the skins at the acorn NPCs are a bunch of old skins, but I wanted to point out that you can get a full set of an old skin including the weapon for only 20 acorns via some quests. This is less than the amount of acorns you would need to buy a full set of skins from the shugo NPCs. These dark blue quests are available to pick up as a level 80. Note, these are DIFFERENT old skins than the ones that you can buy piece by piece on the shugo NPCs themselves! You also get a little bonus stigma selection pouch for a bit of kinah too (or to keep if you still need stigmas).

    Old Eternal Daevanion Set:

    Old Ceramium Coin Set:

There are other dark blue quests at the rest of the Beluslan/Heiron main leveling quest areas (where you can teleport on the map).

I think it actually is less active, when we had the anniversary we had a ton of people online just for the passive 700k XP per minute in that anniversary map, the skipping table thing (people had alts there too for that extra reward).

During Songpyeon the server also seemed slightly more active (maybe not due to the event itself).

I could be wrong but I hardly even lag on Gelk now because I do not see many characters online (they could be in dungeons obviously farming pumpkins)

Ahh the excitement of trying to guess the inner workings of NCsoft lol. Although I am happy to be proven wrong about them trying to fix the KT bug issue! We'll see if the server change tomorrow solves that problem.

but KT had more players and it reached that survival capacity within the 7 days the maintenance-to-maintenance lasts while DN was never heavy enough to reach it and it gave the illusion DN physical server was actually better or more stable.

I could be totally wrong because, of course, we don't actually know what is wrong with the KT server. BUT I do not think that is actually what is occurring. The reason I say that is because the server is more active in these past 2 weeks than it has been in a while because of the Halloween event. Despite it being busier, the server actually lasted longer this week. Recently, it has been bugging on Sunday morning (NA time), but this week, it was nearly a day later than that. Furthermore, that isn't because the regular Wednesday maintenance lasted longer -- as you know, if the maintenance lasts a long time, it will extend the "life" of the server. This week's maintenance was fairly short.

Ah well, who knows what the cause is. We don't know, and I doubt NCsoft knows either. Maybe the physical piece of equipment itself just up and says, "Welp, I've been on for 4 days, I'm hot, time to turn off!" Who knows. 9_9

thanks... :(    oh btw  which server has more ppl? kata is sooo.. well barren void of life

Katalam is more populated, but both servers are barren at low levels like yours. The reason is that it only takes a few hours to reach level 80. So everyone is on the endgame maps (Gelkmaros/Inggison, Demaha, Lakrum, Crimson Katalam).

  7. In addition to it being useless to progression, it's also just not fun anymore. I used to do pvp instances every day plus open world pvping. I don't pvp at all in Aion anymore. I play an entirely different game for pvp. Pvping in Aion now is just SO unbalanced from one extreme to the other. You're either getting destroyed in 5 seconds or you're the one destroying someone else in 5 seconds. Neither is fun. It's not fun to die instantly nor is it fun to kill someone else instantly. Everyone is too fast and hits too hard. It's over way too fast now.

  8. It will likely not be repaired. What will probably happen (tin foil hat here) is that they will announce a final server merge sometime in the next year, and they will use DN's functional server and t.rash the broken KT server.

The problem is the way they implemented the acquisition of them. There should be no active player that plays from 6.2 until today that shouldn't have an ultimate of their choice.

This right here is the key. I LOVE the transformations because it's so easy to only use one thing! But they made it so damn hard and expensive for everyone, and that is where the problem is.

  10. Because of all the current XP buffs we have, leveling is ridiculously fast right now. So you missed some dark blue quests in your leveling that would have given you stigmas. For example, there is a dark blue quest around level 30-31 in Beluslan at the Red Mane Cavern that gives you a stigma. The good news is you haven't actually missed out on unlocking the stigmas -- only receiving the stigmas. So you can still get/buy stigmas via other methods. Or you can go back and check for the quests. The dark blue quest I mentioned above is at one of the NPCs by Thor (maybe Thor himself? I don't remember). Note, you will not be able to see the quests after you are 10 levels higher than them, so it may be too late for that one. But just check all of the dark blue quests on Beluslan map that you can see.

where do i pick up crafting? and other skills for making items for myself? how many skills are you allowed to have.. alchemy, gathering, forging...etc

As of the 6.0 patch two years ago, this game only has one type of crafting: Aetherforging. You cannot access it until level 76.

Aetherforging is... ehh, semi-useful? It's definitely not required to do anything in the game. It can be helpful at times. Any "required" crafting, such as Daevanion skills (you'll learn about those at level cap), will be level 1 crafting. So you don't have to level up the Aetherforging to be able to do the important crafting stuff. The higher level Aetherforging is mostly for gear -- note, not the best gear; it's more for skins at this point -- and other miscellaneous things.

Sadly, Aion is not a crafting-heavy game anymore. So if that's something that is very important to you, you will be disappointed.

  12. The reason there is no guide for leveling in Aion is because it only takes 3-6 hours (for a totally new person like yourself, it may take up to like 10 hours). This is because Aion has a small population, so the developers want everyone to get to the endgame maps very fast. You don't see any other people probably, and that is why. We are all on the endgame maps (Gelkmaros/Inggison, Lakrum, Demaha, and Crimson Katalam).

They made the leveling process extremely simplified. So you are probably just overthinking things based on other games being more complicated for leveling. All you need to do is open your map (press M if you don't have it displayed on your screen at all times; if you want to display it at all times, you can press M to open it and then press N and it will put it in your top left corner). Once your map is open, look for quest markers. Yellow markers are campaign quests; these give a lot of XP and are basically your big ones for leveling. Sometimes you may get a quest that says something like "Complete regional quests until you reach level 34." For these, you will want to look for light blue quest markers. These are often quests to kill 10 mobs or such. Complete these until your yellow campaign quest is complete and you can move on to the next one. If you need to refer to your quest log at any time, press J to see that list.

You will level from 11 - 76 in one map: Beluslan. Once you reach level 76, you'll get a quest to help you move to the main endgame map (Gelkmaros for Asmodians).

Let me know if you have more questions. I'll try to check back here a few times today while you're leveling to help out if I can.
