Stigma build thread (4.8 and after)

Purpose of this thread:
sharing stigma builds for different classes, and hopefully explaining their purpose to those new to Aion
(or returning from a long, long break).

Speaking about those returning to Aion, there were two major updates to stigmas -

4.8:

  • Stigma slots were reduced from 8 to 5. Three slots for normal stigmas, two for greater and one for a major stigma.
The 'middle' slot is called the 'linked' stigma and only appears when five 'chargeable' stigmas are socketed.

    Aion0326.jpg

  • Certain old stigmas were made into regular skills - and various changes to all skill specifics.
  • There were two different types of stigmas; inert ones that could be bought - and more valuable, chargeable stigmas
(only socketing the latter would unlock the 'linked' stigma).
  • No longer need to use stigma shards while equiping stigmas, the stigma master now requires a kinah fee.

5.1

  • All inert stigmas were made into broken stigmas that players can vendor:

    tumblr_o5nl4ce6yO1s1ts8io2_1280.png

  • Players who had inert stigmas equiped received bundles to replace their old stigmas with the chargeable ones.
  • Stigmas will now be aquired while leveling through quests, these will be auto-received and require reading a manual
(item in quest cube) and can be completed through bounty.

-> What does this mean?

Basically the stigmas you acquire during leveling are set, and however those are builds that can be used,
this leaves out a couple important stigmas. Certain classes will be penalized more by this than others.
Missing stigmas still drop from bundles ingame (open world, instances, events) and can be traded -
so if you really need one, you can always buy one on the broker.
(See next post for the standard stigma builds acquired through questing)

Upgrading or 'charging' stigmas:

Since 4.8, stigmas can be charged. To charge a stigma, you need a second exact same stigma as the one you want to charge.
Stigma masters will upgrade it for you in exchange for a kinah fee. If it succeeds, you will get one +1 stigma, if it fails - you lose both.

-> What's the benefit of charging stigmas?

Stigma charging reduces the MP cost of the skill. For now, that's it.
(In a future  update there will be bonus effects if all stigmas are charged up to certain levels:

! For easily sharing stigma builds - use the amazing Mouseclic stigma calculator !

That's all there is to say in general about the stigmas!
Disclaimer: I am aware this information is old, but if it helps someone looking for a quick explanation on builds
(after discovering their old destroyed stigs and the inevitable panic) - I call it a succesful mission.

Feel free to post and discuss builds below!

Great information, answered a few questions I had. And just to confirm, if we're going to try to charge a +2 stigma with a +0 stigma and it fails, we only lose the +0 stigma, right? +2 stigma is kept

Yep, that's correct!
(And a good thing too, seeing how the future changes expect us to charge +6 and higher xD)

The +2 becomes +0, and the +0 is lost. Also, charging stigmas is not only to decrease MP cost; it depends on the skill. Many skills have their cooldowns reduced (by 1% if it's normally 1:30 or lower, or 2% if it's normally 2:00 or higher, per +), and some have other things changed (mobility thrusters' pdef reduction & sigil strike's damage, for example).

Actually, allow me to add a correction to this. MP reduction only applies to skills which have short cooldowns. Skills with long cooldowns, such as my Earthen Call, get a CD time reduction. Originally the skill takes just over 2min. Mine is enchanted to +6, and the cooldown is 1:45min. The same applies to all other classes.

As for Spiritmaster stigma builds, the one listed is decent for solo PVE, and I would even suggest taking out Burn-To-Ashes and replacing with Enmity Swap instead, to reverse aggro from your initial burst damage.

However, any aspiring SM PVPer's, this build cripples you. Build around the template below.

PZ6uIGF.jpg

Aside from this setup, you can swap out Infernal Pain with Shackle, and SWoP with Stone Scour. If you're group PVPing with several melee, leave SWoP socketed for Fire Spirit buff (also applies to group PVE instances). If you're 1v1 PVPing against a caster, and think you're good with timing, leave it in for Earth Spirit dispel against sleeps and silences-- this is also clutch in fights were your Healer gets slept; you can dispel them!

I like having Earthen Call in at all times to avoid movement debuffs.

Thanks for the guide, Ruby! Very helpful and concise.

nice builds.. and I must bring up 1 stigma I know for sure is outside the norm reduced mp/cool down from charging, Benevolence, charging actually increases the output, since it is an always on skill with minimal or no MP cost....

I actually have 1 charged, so not some glitch on mouseclic.

the  # 2, pvp build, not bad but is a little more vile using mag freedom instead of cyclone, especially if running with bards and sorcs in group ;)

full debuff a target, running an MA build... watch what froggy/treble cleave or aetherflame/storm strike do afterwards for the lolz...

AT's only 1 suggestion... and I hate seeing it on my SM, trauma plate trigger is your friend, put it in place of Meteor Strike... will have the same linked skill(the quest default is for any random stigmas, even all 6 being green...) which brings up another tactical choice, as you acquire other stigmas, while the yellow MUST got in the top opening, the top opening does NOT have to be a yellow, most classes have 3 linked skills, 2 which are specific choices, a 3rd whatever skills you feel like playing with. and only a couple classes have a cruddy skill #3, nameley cleric.

more asI see other builds pop out/up

Thanks for the correction! I wish I could add it to the original post :/
The only skills I enchanted so far had MP cost reduction, I might have overlooked the CD part since it's so small +1 to +3
(furthest I've gotten personally tbh)

It's not old to all of us! I wish I'd read it before vendoring all the duplicate stigmas from my old chanter xD
