I guess in the end the people who are really getting the raw deal are the returning players. I've been offline for some time, and now I won't be able to resume my gameplay seamlessly. I'm nostalgic too so I'm going to miss revisiting old lands.

If you're a brand new player, the game is too big and too empty at the lower levels that it feels...bad and confusing. The maps were designed around a style of gameplay that is no longer used in Aion, and are big, underutilized, and, really, pointless. Streamlining the game to make it compact and friendly to new players is one of the ways of getting new players to bother to level to endgame without getting confused and discouraged by maps that are just slightly smaller than Texas and just as empty.

They're also updating and renovating the remaining maps, making them look less 2008, hypothetically.

The game has been endgame-focused for years. This isn't new. Now it's making the path to endgame cleaner, clearer, and easier to understand for nubsticks.

I understand people don't like the removal of maps and lore, and, tbqh, I don't entirely agree with it, but I can understand why they're choosing that route. Part of why I can't stand WoW is because it's gotten so big and confusing with all of its maps and lands and everything to where I don't know what to do without a guide and so many of the maps are empty anyway. Aion is like that right now, and it needs to be...crunched down a bit.

Ok. the game now is focused just in endgame and the gameplay is not longer here due to 4.0 to 5.8 updates. But the are going back to the previous style.

I´m totally agree that the are making the game more compact and easy to manage, and reducing the areas the game will seem to be more populated.

But I´m not against to create a campaing with just 4 sugested maps to level up. But removing all the remaining maps is too much. They already did that mistake and was a bad move and the beggining of the end. And Sarpan-Tiamaranta were almost deserted too. But people like to have options. There so much lore on those maps. They could keep them as they are and add the new leveling in those 4. Or maybe just deleting 2 or 3 of them (including Krapdor. nobody likes that map :P )

And it must be something that you do not like. :P

Even during 4.7, Sarpan and Tiamaranta were still actually pretty alive. That is the difference between 4.8 and 6.0.

Update today

1. Master Server will be updated to live server
2. All new items will have initially 3 manastone slots and 3 sealed manastone slots. You will be able to expend the slots with an item that comes from extracting equipment items.

Lol, that "small" detail that changes everything. And me, that I thought they learned something. Giving only 3 manastones was actually a good move, to reduce the gap between geared/not geared players, in line with the max enchant to +15. But it seems they brought the farming gear/accessories/stigma stones even to normal manastones now.

Gratz, one step forward and 2 back.

They remove idians, conditioning, augment , enchantment breakthrough,  not to mention changes with bracelets and plumes, and the potential to have 3 extra manastones "changes everything"?

Really, if it stays that way (and they don't keep adding on items, then we really are ahead of where we are now.

6 manastones is far from game breaking.  This is far from 2 steps back with all the other changes this won't hurt and I am wondering if since the new grades replacing fabled, eternal, mythic maybe their will be tiers to manastones where low tier is 3 and then scales up.  What would be 2 steps back is if they make manstones like used to be and if you fail 1 you lose them all lol which they aren't doing.  So having to farm for manastones is definately not game breaking unless you are lazy then it may be

NCKorea posted a new update today, usually explaining the confusion players have regarding the upcoming update.

  • They are updating their Master server to the REFLY update, meaning their current max level (lvl 50 or 55 I believe) is increased to level 80 to fit the update.
  • They noticed it was difficult to satisfy their players on Master server because each update brought it closer to their Live server

  • The REFLY update is meant to remove the excessive conent that was brought in 5.x patch, mainly the Archdaeva system and everything that came along with it.
  • At first, only Live server was meant to get the REFLY update, however NCKorea has decided to apply to all of their servers to avoid confusion and possible alienation of players.
  • In a nutshell: they're removing their Master server.

Manastone update

  • REFLY update brings 6 manastone slots, 3 of them are open while the other 3 are sealed. (?)

  • According to the quote above, only 3 manastones max per equipment is available, and all 3 will be sealed.
  • UPDATE: I've talked to a Korean speaker named Fastor (Danaria Asmo) and he confirms that there's maximum 3 manastone slots and not 6, however all 3 slots are sealed at the beginning. (Thank you Fastor!)
  • They will introduce "Manastone Slot Expansion" and this item will allow you to open the sealed slots. This item can be farmed.
  • The purpose of 3 manastones at start is to ease the difficulty in replacing the manastones, otherwise it will turn out to be too costly.

다음주에는 그 동안 여러분들께서 많은 요청을 주셨던 아이온의 스킬과 밸런스 수정 부분에 대해 안내드릴 수 있도록 준비하겠습니다.

  • Next week they'll post a guide regarding the skill and class balance that everyone has been wondering about.

Quick update again regarding the manastones, I believe they meant 3 slots max per equipment. I'm not entirely sure, because it could be a translation issue.

Double post again, but I've talked to a Korean native speaker and he confirms there's only 3 manastone slots, not 6. However, all 3 slots are sealed and you need a Manastone slot expansion to unlock it, similarly to what we have with cubes.

Alright, thanks for the update Kubei. I exaggerated with the 2 steps back. There are indeed good news overall, and we still don't know how much is this farming to unlock the slots. So I'll wait before crying and panicking. Considering that they reduce the exp required to level up, they must put some sort of grinding/farming somewhere else, that's understandable after all.

The main complaints from Korean community I've seen so far is the removal of the subscription system, and now I think they won't be liking the removal on the Master server, but it's dead meat since they merged in September. Right now it's very difficult to say how 6.0 plays out, but I'm sure more info will come next week.

To be fair, the Master Server has been a really secondary thing they wanted to let pass ever since 5.0.

Do you have any source for that ? Other than yourself concluding it out of thin air ?

The Master server was extremely active since 5.0 on the contrary as many players and streamers saw it more interesting to pvp there than on the 5.0 maps with the +30 gear and the archdaeva skillsets.

Talking about Devs, not players. Anyway, or was it 5.1? I cannot remember correctly, but, yes. The Master Server eventually started to take longer and longer to get content added to them. After 5.3 was released, they openly admitted they were aware of the lack of attention towards it. If I recall correctly, the last specialised update the Master Server had was the 5.3 one, with the 2.0 areas revamp. There were other updates, but they added content from main servers.

Holy Jesus...

They finally decided to get rid of mostly useless content of the Archdaeva that made many people runaway of this game.

They even decided to reduce the grinding as it was before 5.0 : easy to reach max level within very few days.

Also they revamped the maps and deleted the useless ones that are currently making the game looking so inactive.

Just sad about Godstones and Norsvold that we will lose. I loved that design so much.

Many of us left this game because of these sudden many useless content within the Archdaeva and this so called Black Desert alike grinding.

Happy to know they finally did something..

I'm definitely back in this game at 6.0

I still got few questions about 6.0 myself

As we already know lv 65 instances that's not moving to Lukrum going to be removed.

What going to happen to low level instances such as Haramel,NTC,KT,UT/LUT,DP,BT,ADMA(46),TL.Are they going to remove them along with skins ? If they won't remove how about remove level limit and make loots drop for all levels ? If this is not possible how about add these skins into crafting one including missing Ville skins too ?

There was one preview screenshot that I thought was really cool from the lore perspective:

Back in the days, when we first arrived in Heiron, we rapidly notice it is in some real bad shape, decaying monuments/statues and buildings/structures about to crumble in our faces. Then we learn thru history, Heironopolis used to be one of the greatest cities of the past, it was nearly fully destroyed during the wars and abandoned long ago by it's former citizens, leaving only ruins behind. However, after such a forgotten period in time, we are informed Nezekan sees precious value in the area and such is his belief in this view, that he ordered full repopulation and complete restoration of the place. We initially arrive in the middle of such process there. Seems, now, finally we will see it finished in 6.0:

Pretty cool, eh?

There’s definitely much more info than just that, so I will post all the details in a couple of hours (can’t do fancy stuff on phone)

1. Skills can no longer be enhanced with the power of high daeva, you will no longer be able to use high daeva transformations and existing skills might be turned to normal daeva skills.
2. Skill Skins can still be used.
3. Skills that were divided into 2 skills will now have their effect combined to create only 1 skill.
Skills that were hardly being used will be removed.
Cooldowns and the effect time of some skills have been adjusted. Some skills have been changed to active.
For example, 'Apply Deadly Poison' and 'Frenzy' will be changed to active skills. (i dont know why they mentioned 극약 바르기 <= Apply Deadly Poison because it is already an active skill :s)
For bards, 'Echo of Clarity' was integrated with 'Gentle Echo'.

4. Daevanion skills can be unlocked with special skill books. they can be obtained from smugglers that randomly appear in 76+ areas or Dreadgion and Runatorium. There are 2 types of smugglers. One that only has a chance to give you a skills book, and one that has 100% chance to give you a skill book.
Daevanion skill have 2 different effects. You can choose which one suits you better and register it to the quickbar.

I was hoping for more details tbh.

Next will be minions, economy, and character stats.
